We need a good poncho walk before I can fully support him again. Give the people what they want!
Man, we really, really had it good with SJD from like 2021 through early 2023. The daily uploads, the insistence on not following any long established training principles, the 2 hours of sleep per night all combined for a trainwreck I could not look away from. What's everyone's top 5 SJD moments? In no particular order for me (after the first): Poncho walk, the time SJD gifted a nephew a pair of used vaporflys in the wrong size, the time he booked victory lap on the local news after blowing up at the 50k, the infamous Chipolte run, and the time he bought a 20 year old car and insisted he was going to give it to his daughters one day. I'm sure there are many magical moments I am forgetting about though!

Roadside box jumps is up there, generally with all the driving with the headtorch on, that trail race breakdown.
Goddard Mocklow pacing strategy video with head runna coach Anya has dropped. You can see why they pay her the big bucks for this coaching gig despite the naysayers arguing you should be qualified to do your job. Her presenting is always a treat too, most people who have a job that requires constant media appearances might bother to remember a their lines, or make actual notes or prepare a whiteboard or teleprompter to talk through them - but she's learned that just staring at your phone screen and reading off it is good enough.
Insights from the masterclass include:
"There will be a jump between warm up and race pace"
"Loads of elites do max 20km of marathon pace work in any one run during the block because you rely on the taper, you rely on like cumulative miles through the block for confidence you can hit marathon paces"
"Your heart rate will just be lower on race day" after he tells her that race day adrenaline always makes his hr spike especially early in a race
"On the perfect day you can do sub 3"
The strategy is aggressive negative splits - the last 12k all being safely under his half marathon pb pace, looking to speed up more than 10s/km from the first 5k to the last.
Think his top end is probably just outside 3 hours, but aggressively chasing negative splits when you've got such a reach goal isn't going to be much help getting there.
If he attempts this I reckon he gets to 25/30k feeling okay (which in all honesty you should feel in a properly paced marathon); then when he tries to pick it up by >10s per k its only going to take 1 or 2 km to absolutely cook him beyond saving and after that its lights out.
Do we think him/other Runna "athletes" know how unqualified Anya is to give advise pacing a 5k let alone a marathon or do you think to them good PB = running coach?
Anya's latest instagram post is surely a soft launch of her up-coming OnlyFans account.
I'd definately sign up! Better than Bonnie Blue any day. She could do a series 42.2 shades of grey ft Fenton, Bester,Griff and FOD. See who's got the better threshold. Brings a whole new meaning to hashtag Beattheboys!
I’ve just been informed through extremely reliable sources in my earpiece, obviously, that Eric Floberg has sold the film rights to AMC Entertainment Holdings, and the Boston video is now headed for a global release in 120 countries. The trailer is already out, but we will just have to survive a few more days before experiencing what is clearly one of the greatest cinematic events of our time. Let’s go!!!

Ive seen the trailer, Im told there’s a post credit scene where Eric pleasures himself while watching his own video breaking that 2:30 barrier baby. Core memories for all of us, am I right.
What the fuggg is Cullings race kit reveal post about on insta? Not what we need or want to see. Bang average
Champs bib with no UKA club vest? Thought that was the rule of you go off the champ start?
It is but there's no enforcement, just a bloke who checks that your bib has blue stripes on it. You could probably get in with a bib from a previous year as they don't change the design.
Can’t wait to watch Goddard detonate this weekend, only to get run down over the final 5K by Daddy Pig and Joe Wicks both apparently thriving off nothing more than a single banana.

Forgot about the headlamp while driving the 'Burban. And Andy's after church!

I "marvel" at this post...but can't unsee that image. ;)
At least he didn't do it while running up the Newtown Hills. Would have been a heartbreak had he not broken 2:30 /s
Now we get to hear about it for the next 12 mos.
At the very end of the trailer, he is running behind someone in yellow pushing a stroller at 2:30 pace, which was wild.

Who’s to say he didn’t experience a moment of pleasure somewhere on those Newton hills, I mean he just loves this community SO MUCH.
Shame on Becky Briggs for racing the marathon this Sunday using an Apple Watch. She knows better than to use such a watch for a marathon or training. She’ll get some cash for this and never use it again yet will promote it. For someone who bases her account on being vulnerable and truthful about her journey, she’s fugging sly for doing this and will lose any credibility she had in the bank. Then again, she’s friends with McCarthy and endorsed Josh Jogs mulling his London mara bib last year so perhaps that’s all gone. Shame on your Briggs
The apple watch is fine. The GPS is accurate. It works with the popular platforms like strava. You can pair it with a chest strap for accurate heart rate data while running. The general health stats like sleep monitoring are probably more accurate than a garmin.
All GPS watches have been fine for at least 15 years. The benefits over a digital watch with the ability to record lap times were pretty marginal in any case (basically just convenience), and going from the most basic watch to an expensive sports watch does almost nothing. If you want to wear an apple watch, go ahead. The additional price isn't justified for running alone, but neither is getting anything more than the cheapest garmin. If you want an apple watch for daily use, there's absolutely no need to get a separate running watch.

Remember a few weeks back when Welsh Runner and a few others starting advertising Huawei's new watch?
Here's what DC Rainmaker said after testing it:
Is It Actually Accurate? In short, no, it’s not. At least not in my testing, and I think other reviewers as well. To be clear, there are some brief spots, but more critically, it struggled in both relatively easy and moderate scenarios alike.

I would say this is all true with the caveat of battery life. The entry current-gen AW batteries often can’t last an entire marathon unless they’re relatively new. If you need it for a marathon, you may need to drop an extra chunk of change on an Ultra

2 mins in to Sir Nick Bester's London preview, already learnt he's already won by making the start line, as many GREATS such as Cole Running RTJ and Emile Cairess have not been so lucky. Achilles niggle manageable due to wearing high heels.

About 6 years ago my son’s Apple Watch told him he ran a sub-4:00 mile in the middle of a 3 mile training run on roads. He most certainly was nowhere near capable of doing that. That wasn’t the only time it was way off. Maybe the GPS is ok now but some early versions were terribly inaccurate.
