Just saw Mo Abdin is running Boston UK, Boston US and London, within the space of 14 days. Boston UK was his primary race where he missed his target, Boston US was just to meet his sixth star apparently, and now he's still got London coming up without a clear goal stated it seems.

He blamed wind at Boston (UK) finished 2nd overall, even with the PR out the window he should have pushed for the win.
He is another aiming for sub 2:30. I know Boston (UK) is a flat course but the wind is always a factor there. Amazed he didnt go to Seville, Rotterdam or Hamburg or somewhere else flat but without the wind element. He also doesnt strike me as a guy who wants a quiet race with no crowds
He seemed almost embarrassed to admit that it was windy, saying he doesn't like making excuses. He even joked about training with an industrial fan on a treadmill. Yes he was saying it was something he wouldn't have been able to do, but it came off as though he believed that it would actually be possible to negate the effects of the wind through training?
He also asserts multiple times that if he says he will do something, then he can do it. I'm all for a positive mental attitude but considering his goal is just an arbitrary number he's picked out of thin air, that attitude just seems delusional. What if he says he can run 2:10?Guy seems a bit out of touch with reality.

If I say I can do something I will always achieve it (I will only say I can do things well within my grasp)

He has no PBs that even translate to 2;29 - but then neither did Floberg!
Does anybody else’s life feel like it’s on pause until Floberg drops his Boston video?? Like I’m at work performing an important surgery on a newborn and then my mind drifts towards Floberg attacking Heartbreak Hill with 2.30 on the line and my job and my life seems so pointless and futile in comparison. How can I get on with mundane daily tasks whilst I still don’t know what Big E was thinking during those last few miles of the greatest sporting performance in human history??

Running influencer heavy on platitudes light on execution scandal. More as we get it. Hate to see another runna sponsored runna not achieving their goals...
It's the same as his if you tap out in training you tap out in real life and races before immediately tapping out of his training session.
I get that 2:30 is the next exciting target time, but not sure that he's got anything to back it up in training or other races. Let alone with a taper where he's racing one and running pretty hard for a second marathon.
Goddard last session before London, he did 2k at 3:05 pace and 1k at 3hr pace. Claims heart rate drift was because it was "late in the day tax" (2pm?) and has now hidden the workout details on it. But from what I could see before it looked like during his 1k rep (which he did downhill) his HR average high 170s...
Wonder if its finally hit him that hes not ready for a sub 3? I think he mentioned he was getting pacing advise from Anya Culling, we might be in for a generational car crash run here.

In all fairness to him (and others doing London) I don’t think we can make a fair judgment even if he does blow up because looking at the forecast it’s due to be yet another blisteringly hot day in London.
The forecast for Sunday’s London Marathon reads less like a weather report and more like a warning etched in fire. The sun, it seems, has decided to descend personally upon the city again, turning every mile into a blazing gauntlet. The Pavement will shimmer like molten glass, lungs will scorch with every breath, and runners won’t so much cross the finish line as stagger through a furnace disguised as a race. Hydration plans will feel like desperate negotiations with a merciless sky that refuses to blink. And of course, looming behind this absurd, punishing heat is the unmistakable fingerprint of man-made global warming, cranking the thermostat higher with every passing year.
I hope the YouTubers doing this race use it as a way to highlight the environmental cause. We must change how we live or there will be no more marathons for anyone. Floberg 2:29 may be the worlds last, truly great marathon.
Honestly, if we start giving these influencers the chance to moan about the weather for their performance in London we may as well give up. Goddard to get heat stroke, Fry to sh*t his pants, Mo to trip on a curb, Culling claiming she underfueled and Warnock claiming it wasn’t his day. Can’t wait for the excuses.

He couldn't have pushed for the win, the guy that finished 1st was simply better than him as he gave him 3 minutes on the last 7km.
Runners should have a clear understanding of how much meteorological aspects can and will impact a race.. The wind in Boston (UK) on that day was brutal to say the least, is not a City Marathon so you are very exposed, nothing around to reduce the impact of the wind for almost the entire race, less runners, no crowds.
As we all know wind is the condition that can cause the most damage, it has a real impact on effort, as opposed to heat/hills there is nothing you can do in training to prevent you from a very strong head/crosswind to slow you down from your "goal" pace.
What you can do is, acknowledge is going to be very windy, adjust your expectations and try to study the course and wind direction.. E.g. for the first 15k is expected to be tailwind and then for the rest you will be battered by head/crosswinds, therefore consider saving some energy during the tailwind so that you can fight when the headwind comes, for your best chance to avoid a disaster.
2:37 on that day is solid, it could've well been a 2:32 on a day with perfect conditions, he shouldn't be disappointed about it, neither think the strong wind is an excuse.. If he keeps training in the right way he will get to 2:30 (probably won't be during this spring anymore)
Just listened to Matt Fox’s latest pod and he’s going to do a series where he chases Nick Bester around marathons shouting Boomshakala into a mike. Is he ok??
It’s all a bit awkward for Foxy really because Bester already has a main rival in SirPoc so trying to create one with him himself looks a little tragic.
It’s a bit like Leed United (Matt) thinking they are ManUtd (Bester) biggest rival when Liverpool (Sirpoc) exists.
although Bester is a Liverpool fan so the above must hurt him too
I'm similar age, build etc to Goddard and just blew up on the weekend going for sub3 finishing in 3:07. Apart from I have a 1:24 half and did a workout with more than 18km at marathon pace. Think if he goes out at sub3 pace he'll be lucky to do 3:45.
Incredibly refreshing knowing Mary McCarthy isn’t running London this year. The carry on from her disaster last year was too much. Additionally, Becky Briggs is yet again only running for the vibes. She’s clearly talented but has she just given up these days and wants to be a dumbfluencer rather than a real competitor? I do wonder if she’s just lost her bottle and doesn’t want to push herself anymore. Fair enough but disappointing. Her messaging is so mixed so never know what you’ll get.
Mary M & Becky B stooping low enough to take a free watch from Apple, famously awful smart watches, especially for running. Not a runners brand for people who would rather try and be influencers than serious runners.
