Hopefully a domino effect will happen after Saudia joins. Many countries already want in. But my understanding is, it is giving Saudia an option to use another currency. They are not outright saying they will stop using the petrodollar, like other countries already do for energy. But the option alone, to select from multiple currencies when they please, gives them significant leverage. I would like to see Arab nations use that leverage to end Isra-hell and enforce the UN borders for Palestine, which have been ignored for decades. Russia is on the right side of that issue too, supporting Syria (and Palestine) for years. If they don't begin UN borders for Palestine from the LEGAL 1964 UN boundaries, Saudia and all BRICS members use their BRICS currency and bye bye petrodollar terrorism of Palestine.
And yes, the BIG GOAL of dropping the petrodollar for a new currency is to help average americans by reducing military spending in america, so average americans can join the developed world.

That has a chance to change if the military budget is cut way back to match other countries' military spending. america lost itself and stopped caring for its own people. It has a chance to do that again, with BRICS forcing them to, by cutting the balls off the american military, rendering it useless in its current iteration, as a for-profit tool.

The true strength of BRICS is it will render america's military useless, as it can no longer single out and bully nations individually for trying to control THEIR OWN resources or for not using the petrodollar for energy. We all know that’s too high. 1 US cent to kill a Russian soldier is more reasonable. Only killing 500 Russian soldiers a day is not a cost effective plan. No one wants to pay 2 US cents, so we need to kill 1000 Russian soldiers per day to bring the price down to 1 US cent.
