I disagree, I don't think most of these midwest schools are racing each other often, either. NCC races some Illinois schools, WU races southern IL and MO schools, Calvin races... no one? Really only the northeast races really competitively, and as a result they tend to be less impressive at NCAA.
Just my $.02
All the big MW schools usually show up at the Oshkosh meet, and some schools do make the flight out. I know NYU has been there a few times. It's just expensive, and in the end you don't need to know a whole lot about NCC/Haverford/etc. to beat them. Just show up and run faster and you'll win.

NYU will not be there this year, though. Brooks-Oshkosh is a major meet, though, perhaps the most competitive before championship season.
Calling it now, North Central isn't winning a National Championship in 2013.
I will bet you my left testicle that they WILL win a National Championship this XC season. That's a pretty big deal cause, you know, I only have one of those...
Bet your from North Central or don't run D3
I bet you his RIGHT testicle that he isn't from NCC or does run D3
Serious question (maybe I should start a separate thread).
I'm an incoming FR to DIII. I come from a very high-milage High School program (85-100 mpw for our top 7), and even though I've only been running competitively for a year (soccer...) I've been very successful.
Now I'm transitioning to D3. My coach wants me to stay the same as last summer, which is okay, but down the road - are there senior in D3 who run high milage? I don't mean like, 90-100, I mean like 110+? Seriously. I know in DI, there are quite a few, so I assume at the division III level there must be also. Know of any?
My team had one guy hitting 120s and a few in the 100-110 range in the summer and early season. Establish your other criteria for choosing a school before you take into account the mileage of its xc team.
Listen to the coach. Stay in the 75 to 95 range. It will be a real shock when the intensity goes way up. You do not need to be tired. Find out how you do with that kind of mileage and new level of intensity before adding more miles. If you are hurt you are not training and getting better.

"Down the road" ... "Seniors"
With that reading ability, perhaps not the College forum?
Bobby Over for the win. No doubt.
Bump. Our GA told us that St.Olaf stud (W....) had injured himself and was having surgery. True?
^ I'm 100% certain this is not true
I think you are forgetting about the incoming class. You never know what some freshman is going to drop.

Eh. Rare. I think freshman are much less likely to play big roles in D3 than D1 - most are hardworking kids through HS and improvement is slow and steady.
Can't sleep on Leduc.
Regarding Cortland:

Wow, your cred took a shot with that statement if you're talking about Patrick. The teams performances have been super inconsistent at the big meets since his ascendance to the head coach position.
Coach Moran (the previous XC coach) had a ton of very successful DI experience and was a smart dude. The results of his recruiting and training showed in how fast the team got good and stayed good. Patrick couldn't carry his jock.
Sup chodes, I heard that Bobby Over is ready to roll come nationals. Watch out when he puts on his shiny shoes. Ain't nobody makes him bleed his own blood. Hoop out! BTW I caught a gnarly marlin yesterday. 6 footer!!!!!
