Nicole,
I'm sorry I started this thread. I believe you and everyone who passionately spoke on your behalf. Good luck at nationals. I'll be rooting for you.

You SHOULD be apologizing to steeplechase athlete 1984 Olympian and bronze medalist, 1988 and 1992 United States Olympian and distance team captain, 1992 United States Olympic Trials champion, and 8:13 performer Brian Diemer.
Without him we never would have confirmed the number of laps that were run.
Good thread.
Based on all of the evidence presented, the logical conclusion is that she ran 24 laps instead of 25.

If anyone doubts this, it will be confirmed at nationals. NCAA has decided to let her run anyways.
Haha
Congratulations on your National Championship race, Nicole!
Wow, great run for Nicole! Sadly her 35:45 winning time and splits of "only" 17:40 and 18:05 confirmed what we all knew, but a 35:45 PR and more importantly a WIN is something to be proud of!
This win confirms her 34 minute 10k was legitimate.

Her time at 24 laps was 34:17. Men's race times were about 20 seconds slow (both had fast and the pace was generally pushed the whole way), so this was actually a good performance, but her coach is a 1984 Olympic Bronze Medalist so it makes sense she would run well today and close to her ~35:30 "PR." So unfortunately it confirms nothing about the qualification 10k she ran.
Rupp only ran 27 something in London, which confirms his 26:48 was only 24 laps.
34:09...this time not even close
Rupp not man. Only 24 lap.
Here are the top 5 finishers at nationals and their PRs:
1 Nicole Michmerhuizen JR Calvin 35:45.08 ?????
2 Alyssa Duncan SR Wis.-Whitewater 35:51.23 pr: 36:09
3 Elaine McVay SO MIT 35:53.33 pr: 35:54
4 Julia Sizek SR U. of Chicago 35:54.67 pr: 35:54
5 Kristen Galligan SO Washington a 35:56.72 pr: 35:50
Unfortunately, the girls who theoretically should have been the favorites didn't finish or run to form - Lenore Moreno, didn't run to form at all and never challenged the lead - finished 8th in 36:08. The other two studs, Martorella (35:11 pr) finished 10th and Kirsten Keller DNF'd.
This left Nicole, whose 34:09, assuming it was 24 laps, a 35:34, the clear favorite. Everyone directly behind her ran their PRs, it even looked for a while like Nicole was actually working a lot harder than the rest but that might just be her funky running form.
So a great win for Nicole, but the win was what you would expect under the fortunate circumstances assuming it was a lap short, and doesn't really support otherwise.

Right and Kip Litton is a 2:20 marathoner.
How is this possibly still being debated? Did NO ONE have a video of the race? NO ONE took her splits? Either of these should settle this very quickly.

Did you watch the race? She basically was a rabbit for anyone wanting to run fast.

I'm pretty sure Rupp didn't cut the course, so it must have been 24 laps.

Here's a link to a video of Rupp's race, where you can count and take splits of all 25 of Rupp's laps. Now where's the one for Nicole's 10K?

She was pressured....Moreno and Oneida ran with her for 7k or so, with a 12 second lead on the peloton. They fell off pace and the pack gained on on her (mostly the last two laps).
I'm not arguing whether the time was legit or not, but Oneida and Moreno gave her pressure for much of the race.
...but most importantly she won, showed up and got it done when it mattered most.
