Why is everyone sexist? Karen Harvey is more qualified that most of the idiots you mention, look what she did taking FSU to 2nd place in the country. She recruits better than anyone. She should be their top choice

Harvey has zero men's coaching experience. If this was a combined program job that's one thing and she should then be considered. But as a men's only coach she has no credentials. This is not about her gender, it's about her resume.
But if it was a male coach who only coached males, I bet you would not feel as though he wouldn't be a good candidate for coaching women!
If you had a male assistant coach at a program where the men just finished 2nd at the NCAA's, and that person applied to be the head women's coach at a big Division I university, there would be no hesitation.
I know UM is Harvey's alma mater but why would she leave FSU? The team at FSU is better (especially better than the UM mens team), the weather is better and she seems from her interviews to enjoy dealing with womens' issues in athletics.
Plus I saw on facebook that Sully just opened a running store in Talahassee. I don't think they're leaving anytime soon.
Coaching Women at Florida State > Coaching Men at Michigan
At least for a coaching fit for Harvey... I think it would be a downward movement Whoever coaches at Michigan next is going to have a rough first few years. Let's just hope it is not McGuire.
Also, from my understanding, all the people that were "let go" will still receive full retirement. That will not be cheap for U of M.
As a good hire for Michigan, they should look for someone that is an alumni, has coaching experience, has valuable running experience- I'd say Dieymer is probably the best bet. If I were Michigan's AD- I would hire him.

wow, what a convincing argument of "I bet you would not feel...". Sounds like you're the one who is sexist. Hey Jesse Jackson of gender rights don't assume everything is about being male or female.
You are an idiot. I am saying that the original poster is being sexist to assume that since Karen has no experience with coaching men, but is immensly qualified coaching women, that she is not a capable. My arguement is that male coaches who have success coaching men are given jobs coaching women all the time. Dip$hit.

I love Ronnie as a person and I think he was a fine coach for many, many years. Probably got let go with something trivial like swearing in front of AD or soemthing. However, lets not say there isn't tons of talent on that team right now. A kid like Bobby April was a top 10 recruit in the country just couple years ago, the 2 Kiwi's, etc. are supremely talented. They need some motivation and some care and Ronnie probably grew a little tried of wiping noses; his best success came from ungodly talented (and yes can't miss in Sully, Willis, Brannen) or blue-collar 9:20/4:20 kids recently!
Whoever gets that position should be very thankful and there absolutely should be tough expecations immediately!
Gibby to Michigan. Really and truly, for sure.

Who else would you ask? Someone who doesn't know him? Having known Mr. Lockhart for two plus years I don't know of anyone that doesn't like the guy. He's simply likable! There's no wonder he signs recruits.
Two years? I've known him a hell of a lot longer than that. He is likable and intelligent. I just think the risk/reward ratio makes sense for a program like Michigan. Bobby is somebody who needs to pay some dues for a few more years before he gets a shot at something like that.
So if Alex Gibby goes to Michigan, does he take some of his studs at WM with him?
Perhaps Dan Steele of UNI? Proven record

Sorry yup, but you're wrong. Gibby has emailed the team and told them he is leaving for UM.
I call BS
Call what you want.
You are wrong.
Deal with it.
And learn to deal with it, because I'm getting the impression you are wrong a lot, and you need to learn to be less stubborn about it.
not happening. some people just happen to run for UM
Dude, he is married ot Kathy Newberry, the head women's xc coach at William and Mary and CAA Coach of the Year last year. He has a better program than Michigan. Why leave? Doesn't make sense. I have to call BS as well.
plus, where is Kathy going to work? Michigan has a women's coach who isn't going anywhere.
