You do realize that Hany has run right around 14:10 in the last two indoor seasons and never came close to winning come nationals, right? Hany gets in fast races and gets dragged along to fast times, he doesn't do them by himself. If Kaul and Sigl and Kosgei were in those races, I have no doubt that they would be able to run just as fast. Hany is a good time-trialist, but there are other folks who are much better racers and are just as fast. In those circumstances, the better racer always wins.
Abdallah has never run faster than 14:25 (converted) indoors - don't blow things out of proportion. You are right, however in saying that he has proved himself able to lay down very fast times in the season, but has yet to be up there fighting for the win in a championship meet. I will say that when he ran 29:50 at Princeton, he put a sizeable gap on the field pretty early and ran a good 7k of the race essentially alone. It wasn't a case of him just being dragged to a fast time. This could bode well for his chances in a 10k if he puts it together on race day and makes a move from a long ways out.

You guys can't discount Butzler's foot speed. That guy has some wheels. Trust me, if Sigl and Butzler were to race at any distance under 10k, Butzler's leg speed would win out. Butzler has more speed than anyone in DIII...mark it down.
"Its a long season" was obviously being sarcastic. It's a running joke around some parts how every DIII thread turns into a thread about how Butzler's leg speed will overcome anyone at any distance. It's like how people during the fall were trying to argue that Butzler would beat Sigl at 8k because he had more leg speed. What people failed to realize was that Sigl got 2nd in the indoor mile his freshman year...which ties Butzler's best performance ever in the mile/1500. It's called sarcasm, folks.
When it comes to Hany, I'll believe it when I see it. I'm not looking down on his performances, they're all impressive. Its just that he has been the class of the field (timewise) so man times before, and he hasn't ever been in contention for a win.
Didn't know that the 10k was mostly solo, but unfortunately I think that feeds into my point- he can run a great time trial, but that doesn't have much use in a real race. Unless Abdallah can go into Nationals with a good 20 seconds on the rest of the field and just runs off the front (and nobody follows him), then I can't see him beating a guy like Sigl.

A note to the Calvin Guy: I think your site is great and all, but why exactly are you trying to get everyone in D3 to look at your site? Its great that you have something like that, but why do you really need people from all over the Nation to look at your teams PR's, personal Bios, and Inside Jokes?

Was anyone hurt at Whitewater--I heard the whole power plant blew up there.[/quote]
It was actually the heating plant. There were I believe two injuries, one minor and the other a broken leg. Other than that, the main dining hall on campus has been shut down for awhile (it is right next door) and the entire campus is without heat/hot water until (optimistically) Sunday.
just showin people a side of the team you can't see on the track...
ok. good answer. reading my post again I came off as a jerk. didnt mean it that way.
yeah, it's all good spook...I think most people like that sort of thing, esp. when it's a good team. I thought it was cool to see since I have seen those guys race a lot but didn't know much about them.
Yeah don't forget about Tim Finnegan. He's back and should be ready to do some damage in the 5k or 10k or both.
Butzler (and his amazing footspeed) is pretty much the fastest 4:07 in the history of DIII.
I don't know what kind of footspeed the rest of the field has, but USM's curtis wheeler (30:18, so he missed auto by :04) has gone under 1:57 indoors for an 8 (not fresh either). For a 10k guy, THAT is footspeed.

He really hasn't shown that he is back to the form he was a few years ago.
no sweat, hope people enjoy the site.

No.
What is the deal with New York University ignoring their Conference Meet? I understand they are probably resting their athletes for the National Meet, but why be a part of the Conference? It seems, atleast to me, to be a bit rude.

No.
I second that No.
They cant win it anyway with just a distance squad so why have them go all out when it wont make a difference. Its not being rude if you dont have the sprinters and field guys to be competitive. Its pointless to have abdallah and the other top distance guys waste their time in a 5k/10k when they are going to try and qualify in more quality meets in the coming weeks.

You forgot to mention the part about you being a huge fag
I didnt realize that New York didnt have a solid sprint or field team. Makes me more understanding of it.
