Damn NY Road Runners they caught me and dq'd me from the race but I will return again + again + again + again + again. I cheat alot but there on to me and dq'd me from all there 2005 races. Damn I hte the chip. I am a coach and this is what I teach all my kids.
He doesnt cheat, just drives 300 miles out of way to run non-competitve races, including the mile fun-runs, to amass a pile of meaningless trophies. He has his own threads on the boards here. I just threw him on the list of folks 'outed' by LRC over the yrs.
These splits dont make sense, even discounting cheating.
10k - 38:33
15k - 18:06
20k - 26:41
25k - 24:08
30k - 16:59
35k - 29:14
40k - 19:12
42k - 14:44
I mean, 16:59 at 30km, does this mean he did the previous 5km in 16:59? are these splits every 5km? Sorry if a stupid question but had to ask because: how does one go from 18min 5km splits to 26:41 to 16:59 a short while later? Is this the hilliest marathon in the world? Why would someone who's in about 3:00 hr shape do the first 10km in 38:33? And how would someone who's doing a 3:07 marathon be able to throw in a 16:59 5km surge in the middle? Are you running then walking then running?
even worse, he's a 3:07 runner and does the first 10km in 38:33, and then the next 5km at an even faster pace, 18:06.
I must be reading these splits wrong. Because either something's fishy, or he had no idea how to pace himself. at all. I mean not even close.
Wiju is just bored running even pace. Either :-
1)he prefers to fartlek his marathon's and pops in the odd slow jog recovery or
2)he probably has no sense of direction and gets lost quite a bit hence the slower splits. When he doesn't get lost he can pop a fast 1. That marathon where he ran 1:07 for the 2nd half would appear to back this up. When he gets lost he probably runs nearer 30 miles than 26.2.
you cannot be serious. read the rest of the thread.
Dude has figured out how to transform through the time and space continuum.
Well done. I laughed out loud and guffawed heartily several times reading that. My faves:
"...leaves him over thirteen minutes in his raging wake"
and he was moving so fast that
"...his chip failed to register at three intermediate points."
Yes, it is possible to be a heel-striker and run fast, but if you look at the picture, his heel is striking while his rear foot is still on the ground! TECHNICALLY, this qualifies as race walking. This cheat is NOT running fast!
If he really wants to run, see the sights, get a finisher's medal but not do the whole race then why not just run without the chip?
Hes still listed on the race website. Does anyone know if the Chicago Marathon officials have been notified yet?
Bong hits keep me budzzz go ahead and cheat ur wrinkley old ass off gramps

Glad to see I wasn't the only one following WiJu's "race" today.
He really turned on the afterburners from 30 to 35 km, eh?
What race was this in?

New York 5th Nov 2006, I got Jerkena's times before the race authorities seemingly wiped them from the results. There is a New York Marathon Cheats thread and looks like someone in officialdom is lurking there and erasing from the official list. Either that or my searching leaves a lot to be desired, maybe I was taking short cuts.

NYC rocks. The NY guys do a better job with disqualifying cheaters than Chicago. Impossible to check for discrepancies in the heat of the moment, but check back 1 to 3 days later and most of the cheaters are gone from the NY results. But Jurena is still in the Chicago results 2 weeks later in spite of the letsrun threads.
HAHAHA! You were right!

Wiju is like our little pet here at Letsrun. He does the same trick over and over but we never get tired of it.
