And you, of course, know exactly what Scott's preferences are based on, I gather.

Nice try, but you forget that these foreigners will stay clear of our Olympic Trials which test for drugs. Ask KK, he wouldn't go 1,000 miles near our Olympic Trials for fear of being found out!
Is that right? What part of "Meb" was difficult for you to understand?
haha, you're very funny Mom.
I'll stand by my earlier statement that ALL US distance records will be held by non native born Americans within the decade.
And having said that, have you asked the real Americans (native Americans) how they feel about Scott ,Webb, Ritz etc stealing their land AND their records?
Or shouldnt i go back that far? Isnt that playing fair by your rules?
You're just another ignorant dumbazz...but then again this is letsrun.

No mirrors in your house, huh?
Why are "Native" Americans "real" Americans?
You don't think Indians stole other Indian land?
Steve Scott is a BAD ASS!!!! I love and totally agree with the comment.
Move to France if you don't like it!!!!!!!
As a Brit living in the states for over a decade I am proud of my background and thankful for the USA for having me.
However, should I apply for citizenship and suddenly be blessed with record breaking athleticism, the record wouldn't feel right, even if my passport shows American Citizen..
I am English, just as Lagat is Kenyan.
Steve Scott has a good point.
but you see, that would never happen because most Kenyans want to run for Kenya. "Hadd about enough" makes a great point. Like Lagat said when he changed citizenship, he still loves Kenya but loves America too, and wants to show that. He even did it in a year when there was a championship, when he could've done it this year.
Anyway, lagat did go through the whole NCAA system, so it's not as if he didn't grow up here at all. college is an important part of life and it was not only what made him start being interested in america, but what made him a great runner.
all these people dying to establish their own sense of political correctness in lashing out at anyone who expresses concern over the possibility of lagat breaking scotts record are absolutely out of your minds
no one is suggesting that they change the rules so lagat cant have the record
no one is suggesting that lagat isnt a true american
the only thing anyone (including scott...the greatest runner in american history) is saying is that they would PREFER that a "born and raised" citizen have the record over a person who competed during the majority and the peak of their career for another country
its not a policy suggestion, simply a personal preference and a statement that "something simply doesnt feel right about it"...and lets face it..."something doesnt"
so relax thats all people are saying and its totally legitimate, if your totally for lagat having the record...fine, cheer for him and hope he breaks it, if youd prefer someone else has the record...cheer for them...its a free country
but stop being so damn sensitive anytime the concept of race gets involved
Would Legat be a citizen if he wasn't a runnenr?

Lagat loves America so much that he kept his US citizenship a secret for a year so he could run for Kenya.
Let's face it, the only thing Lagat loves is himself.
Scott's record is so soft that it deserves to be broken and held by a talented runner.
What a biggot.
Stupid is appropriate for your name.
Um, what do I say to this idiocy? "I know you are but what am I"?
Anything to say about how embarrassingly soft and deserving of breakage Scott's record is?
HRE-
I only know what Scott's preferences are based on because he says exactly so.
Stupid...Calling Steve Scott a bigot over his remarks reveals two things: One, you have never met the man and two, your name is even more appropriate with every post.
His record is so soft only about a dozen humans have ever run faster than it. It's about as good as a 7'10'' HJ, 26:50 10k and 9.88 100m. None of those are soft marks and neither is Scott's 3:47. Anyone that thinks it is soft is a fool.

Great point, dipshit. We certainly can't form opinions on people we've never met, now, can we? His comments sound biggotted enough to me.

Wrong again. Actually, you're half right. My name is even more appropriate with every one of YOUR posts.

Newsflash: the rest of the world doesn't give a shit about the mile. Only to Americans is this arbitrary distance worth thinking about.

HAHAHA. I notice that, while make the fairly irrelevant comparision to the 100m and the high jump and the 10,000, you ignore the most obvious comparison: the goddamn f***ing 1500. What do you think that Scott's AR is "about as good as" in a 1500? And where do you think that would fall on yor precious all-time list?
Scott's AR is soft.
The world seemed to care about the mile when 4 was trying to be broken.
Scott's mile record is about a 3:30 or so. It would rank him in the top 20 - 30 all performers of all time in the 1500. He is a top 15 in the mile all time.
Scott's American record is strong not soft. I hear what you are saying but you are going overboard by calling it soft. A 3:50 is soft for an AR., 3:47 is very competitive.
