I think this is probably the case for many of them. Like I said before, they certainly shoulder some of the blame and clearly made bad mistakes, but it seemed largely opportunistic - a chance to take some photos and trespass. When the police basically waved them inside, they probably figured they might as well.

If we go down the route of free college (which I don't agree with) so that a 4-year college person not only gets $200,000 in aid but a higher salary afterwards, then a trade school person who gets $30,000 in aid and a lower salary afterwards should get some other kind of benefit too...to the tune of the difference of $170,000. Some platforms and companies are probably going to do really well catering to the trumpers, but it's looking like most of the well known ones have decided that risking getting sued and being complicit in inciting violence isn't a good look.

My opinion is that crazy talk about election fraud is ok. When it crosses the line to incite violence, that is too far.
Who here can't say they aren't entertained by a crazy conservative host spewing election fraud conspriacy theories. I find Dan Bergino's podcast very entertaining. Disturbing at times, but entertaining.

NO...once again, I am NOT for free college. But IF we go down that road, then yes, we need to provide the same dollar amount to those who do NOT go to a 4-year college (again, limiting it to those who DO go to a two-year trade school or community college).
Here is why that is different from roads and libraries...Just about EVERYONE is able to use roads and libraries...only the very disabled can not, and then even for them, roads benefit them.
College (4 year) is NOT available to everyone. If we do the free college thing, we are helping those who likely don't need the help as much...those who are more intelligent. This is not fair, and working class people ARE smart enough to recognize that...but again, beyond not fair, it is a waste of money, so I am not for ANY of it. It further separates the elite from the non-elite.

Teachers and nurses are paid well, because they are licensed professionals that are protected by guild. It effectively limits the new entry to protect the wage level. The latter is already shielded from foreign competition, because they are in non-tradable sector, and their jobs cannot be outsourced. (It is also true about some of the "skilled labor" category.) All of the market-distorting "reforms" only reduces the size of the pie to be divided, which leads to more dissatisfaction from other sectors. The direct payment to people based on their occupation would cause even bigger outrage. So the only thing that works is a blanket tax credit based on the income level. It's already there (Earn Income Tax Credit). You only need to expand it. What a boring solution to the problem!
Yes, teachers are paid decently well in most states. The problem is that everyone and their brother constantly holds them up as being underpaid and overworked. That rings hollow with the machinist that makes $12 an hour and works 60 hours a week every week all year.
Taxes need to be reformed EVEN MORE to support those who make low income, and what is defined as "low income" needs to be raised.

No. It closes the gap.
There are many people who would be helped by it who either drop out of college because of the cost or are strapped with loans for years.
The current system means people who come from means get an advantage over others. That further separates the elite from the non-elite.
And the workforce needs more educated people as it relies more on automation and IT.
