Based on my very unscientific back-of-the-napkin figuring, the usual VCP course runs about 20-30 seconds slower than Paul Short (this is based on teams like Princeton and Iona who ran Paul Short and conferences at VCP). Cortland's times were about 10-20 seconds faster at the "new VCP" than Paul Short across the board.
Paul Short was over a month ago...perhaps Cortland improved just because they're starting to peak? Allegheny, for example (sorry, not Atlantic), had a 5-person average of 25:36 at Paul Short, whereas they had a 5-person average of 25:07 at Regionals on the same course...same exact group of guys, too.
Granted, this might be somewhat uncommon (Haverford was 25:16 for 5 at Paul Short, 25:04 at Regaionals...still an improvement), but it's still a factor to take into consideration.
Maybe VCP was about equal to Lehigh on that day?
I was just wondering when Wejo was going to ban Nate Lowe from Letsrun posting?
After you beat him.
how backwards are you rednecks from northern ny? whats gives you the impression that cortland has any chance of beating nyu, provided nyu has an 'okay' day?
NYU beat Cortland by 9 points on NYU's home course, on a day in which Green lawn ran with one shoe. The top 4 teams at NCAA's are going to be close.
I doubt Wejo is going to be banning anyone who is here to talk about the sport. Speaking of which...
Has anyone heard how Greenlaw is doing? I imagine his foot was messed up pretty bad after running over 4 miles on cinders missing a spike. Will he be good to go on Saturday?
Why didn't Greenlaw stop and put his shoe back on? The time he would lose putting the shoe back on probably wouldn't be much compared to the time he lost and damage he did to his foot. We're not talking about a grass field here; those cinders at VCP can be brutal.
Cortland is not located in Northern NY.
he lost the shoe in the first 500 meters...I really doubt he'd be able to find it and put it back on and finish the race without risking further injury from a collision and ensuing stampede

Cortland is north (okay, and west) of Yonkers. That makes it Upstate. Upstate, by definition, is Northern New York. Cortland, Buffalo, Plattsburgh, Poughkeepsie: all Northern NY.
You're wrong, Cortland is specifically the southern tier or central NY, idiot. You are typical moronic "southern" New Yorker.

I am fairly familiar with the Southern Tier (and CNY), having lived there for ten-plus years and competed for CNY in the ESG.
Nevertheless, I think it is reasonable to refer to the part of the State in which the northernmost quarter of the population lives as "Northern."
That would be roughly everything north of Westchester.

No, "northern" is a geographical word. Population has nothing to do with it. Your definition would make sense if you said you refer to the northernmost quarter of land area as "Northern".
Cortland is certainly upstate, but not northern. I agree that "upstate" is a valid definition for anything north of Westchester.
you people get in arguments about the most stupid pointless shit...
Anything north of White Plains is Northern New York...and probably uncivilized. Who gave you farmers internet access?
that will tell you where everything is, whether you are central or northern.
Go Kosgei and Cortland.
I've heard that its
