So here's the plan - get all by myself for most of my workouts, measuring up against nothing and nobody, spend a huge amount of my time flying back and forth to California, just to do some intervals, follow my wife around and support her, not to mention, try and run the "Steps Foundation" And........ all this is a wonderfully perfect formula for getting down into that 2:04 - 2:05 range????? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitt!!! Dude - WAKE UP! Seems like some "pride issues" are going on to me. If you're feeling so good Monday morning and only run no faster than 2:10 - 2:11, it will just show you've crawled up your own...... ...... ! Look around dude, who in the hell else is running 2:04's - 2:05's and running/training all by themselves??? Who?? Nobody, that's who!!!!
This all reminds me of the guy who sat on his roof while the flood waters dangerously rose and when the first boat came along and they said, "Dude, quick get in or you're gonna drown!" The guy just sat there and said, "Nope, Gods gonna save me! I don't need your help!" An hour later, second boat comes along, "Quick Dude get in the waters are coming, you'll die!" "Nope, Gods gonna save me! I don't need your help!" Finally, a third boat comes along and says, "This is it, quick get in last chance!" The guy still just sits there and says - "Nope, Gods gonna save me! I don't need your help!" Well... you guessed it, he drowns and next thing he knows, he's standing there before God. He's pissed off and says, I don't get it Lord! I did everything you said, prayed to you all the time and did your will and trusted you that you would save me! Why didn't you save me God, why didn't you care about me on that roof?????? God pauses..... thinks for a second and rolls his eyes and says, "Well son.... I'm not quite sure why you feel that way? I did send you three damn boats!!!!!!!!
I think one of the main reasons why so many on this thread bashed Ryan Hall was because a 15mi tempo doesn't tell you sh|t. It is no indicator if he can run 2:04 or only 2:12. And I agree with that. On the other hand, he also needs to put up videos for his sponsors/fans etc...
Look at Armstrong, he tweeted pretty much every single training ride. Generated a lot more interest than some hundred Kenyans you never hear of in between races. They show up, give a small post race interview and disappear. Which is sad because our sport needs some guys who run well AND TALK ABOUT IT!
I just watched this workout video for the first time this morning. But I will say I was wrong - I never thought he'd be under 2:10 again. He ran a good race yesterday.
This thread is hilarious to read years later down the road, knowing the performance Hall ended up putting out.
