Steve Walsh, first at Upenn, now at Providence. Amazing coach
Who are some of the youngest head coaches in Division 1 for cross country? There has to be a decent number of under 30 head coaches. Anybody know them? Maybe if we start there, then we can see which ones are doing well and might be somebody to look out for in the future.
Quintana's men took 11th at regionals this fall. He should be fired for that.

Because they were getting themselves into quite a bit of trouble off the course. If you can't focus on the task at hand you end up 11th in one of the tougher regions in the country.
What do you mean trouble. ASU is only known for top notch student athletes. They never get into trouble. They never party or get drunk and they don't share boyfriends or girlfriends EVER!!! NOT!!!!!
how about kathy newberry, 27 years old and the womens head coach at william and mary. still competing now... qualified to run on the U. S. Cross Country National Team last year. she was named the conference coach of the year and led the team to ncaas last year. great runner and an awesome coach!
The state of Missouri has several young aspiring coaches at Division I schools. Greg Hipp has done a great job with the Missouri State women. Mike Nelson has both programs at St. Louis University, and Miles Krieger has the Southeast Missouri State University cross country team. All of these coaches are under the age of 28 years of age.
Jamie Moreno at William Woods University has built a nice NAIA program from scratch. In 3 XC seasons both teams have been ranked in the top 20 at some point and the women where ranked as high as #7 this season finishing 16th at nationals. He seems to develop average to above average kids without having a big scholarship base.
how about ryan turner at cowley county in kansas. he took a non-existent distance program and made it a top 5 team for both men and women.
Mark Phillips at Cowley does all the recruiting...so it was a team effort there
Steve Walsh - another vote.
Hes young, tall, good looking, and knows about running
