Let me start by saying that ttc is a complete jackass. Lets see how well he would have fared if he was born in a poverty-stricken, down-trodden area, where there were not enough tax dollars to provide for decent schooling for anyone in the neighborhood. Where jobs were few and far between. Where he had to work 40 hour weeks from the age of 14 to help supplement his family's income. I bet most people on here would not do very well. Not only does it make it difficult to advance to a new socio-economic status, but it also has to be terribly discouraging in general.

the article goes on to detail how this money could have gone to fixing the damn but there were too many local pork projects to work on. the bottom line is that the money was there and w was not shifting money to iraq. you can blame the locals for pissing it away. it really does help the discussion if, rather than rambling on with erroneous and unsubstantiated claims, you cite your sources. however, i would assume that citing most of your allegations would be difficult.

It seems to me like a sideshow to distract us from issues that are much more clearly our officeholder's responsibilities, such as what our tax money is buying and where campaign contributions are coming from.

Politicians know they won't ever settle the abortion debate, and they won't ever really be forced to, regardless of their position, so they trot it out like a dog and pony show to fire up the media and their constituency when they need support or distraction or whatever.
