Lordy I love these Ukrainians. What an amazing victory. Probably spurred by the GOP loss of the Senate.
USA Today:
The commander of Russian forces in Ukraine said his troops will withdraw from the crucial port city of Kherson, a major setback reflecting the Kremlin's increasing struggles to turn back a Ukrainian counteroffensive that has returned hundreds of miles of seized land to Ukrainian control.

But, but, but... Carmine said that sending 300,000 untrained Russian meatbags without proper equipment to the frontlines was going to destroy Ukraine. How could he have been so wrong? Oh, he's a f*cking idiot, you say? Yeah... that makes sense.

The Russian plan in Kherson appears to have been to resupply troops. First, forced citizens to evacuate. Second, let Russian soldiers ransack the homes and stores. Third, withdraw troops. Result: troops get food, clothes and gear at no cost to Putin; the troops are happy because the heisted jewelry, lingerie and game centers will be a hit back home.

Ukraine polling data on Territorial concessions to end war.
Poll is of persons currently in Ukrainian controlled territorial, so consider the perspective, but interest in territorial concessions for peace is very low.
The Antonov AN-225, which was destroyed in the early stages of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, will be rebuilt to the tune of $500 million, its manufacturer has announced.
If anyone has ever seen that plane (before the Russians deliberately destroyed it), it was a quite a sight taking off. You felt like you were watching a disaster in the making, but eventually a mile down the runway, it starts to gain a few feet of altitude every minute or so . . . .

It's a good take.
This site may have issues but it's better than Rumble. That site has had posts and reports of Russians winning tactical engagements. It has even more issues than LRC.
That should do it right there, losing Kershon HUGE loss for Russia, I can't see what is actually left for Russia to do other than get more Russians killed.
Admitting defeating pretty cool.
Sp they have losr over 100,000 troops, thousands of tanks and equipment and gained.....0.

Crimea is what's left.
Russia is pulling back to the east side of the Dnipro River to use it as a natural barrier and it will be a formidable obstacle to any potential Ukrainian advance from the west. It means Russia has given up hope of advancing in western Ukraine (Odessa) anytime soon, but Russia wants to hold onto the land route to Crimea.
I'm still a bit concerned that the Russian withdrawal from Kherson is a trap. Russia is never this transparent and open about what they're doing. The announcements, lowering the flag, the staged meeting of the generals. I hope that's all domestic PR for them to soften the blow of losing the city, but I don't know, seems really weird based on how they've been acting for the past year.

These people are still believing CIA propaganda.
Things are just great for Ukraine.
They are digging those massive power outages
And exactly how many of the 300,000 are engaged in drone attacks on power infrastructure? Oh right - none of them. This is just more irrelevant whataboutery because you cannot answer the question posed.

Ukrainians are less concerned about power outages than Russian widows are about their husbands coming home without a leg (if they come home at all). But keep pretending Russian war crimes to compensate for their losses on the frontline are going to change anything about how this war ends - with Putin hanging from the gallows in Red Square.

My fear is Russia can win by dragging it out. At least they are conceding Kherson. Their only trump card is infrastructure attack on Ukraine.

Your guy is chickenshifting out of the G20 summit. It's called "pulling a Kherson" now.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the Group of 20 summit in Indonesia next week, avoiding a possible confrontation with the United States and its allies over his war in Ukraine

Now that the Russian retreat from Kherson is turning into a rout, it's time to take a walk down memory lane to see which LRC foreign policy analyst was most stunningly wrong.
Here's Bad Wiggins from 16 April:

The longer it takes to end, the more securely Russian Kherson will be.
Bad Wiggins bonus round from 8 May:
Bad Wiggins wrote:
The whole reason they advanced on Kiev in the first place was to distract half the Ukrainian army while they surrounded the other half in the east and took over Mariupol and Kherson.
You see, Kyiv was just a faint. The real attack was on Kherson. And now...oh, wait.
One of the most obvious wrong takes is from Ernest on 8 July:
Ernest wrote:
Talk about the Ukraine reclaiming Crimea, the Donbas region, Mariupol, and Kherson is deluded or blowing smoke.
Never one to miss out on the action, here's Lollys Master from 1 September, commenting on the overhyped Kherson counter-offensive:
Lollys Master wrote:
This is how Ukrainian military sources fluff their progress
But Lolly really takes the L on this comment from 26 September:
Lollys Master wrote:
So far the presence of Ukrainian troops in those four regions is almost non-existent. One village next to Lysychansk in Luhansk and small bits north of Kherson. Further spreading will be halted with additional troops, which will suffice even if they're not well trained.
A special award for being slow to catch on goes to Heartlesss for this comment from 9 September:

You guys have literally been saying the Ukrainian forces are “pretty successful” since March. Not so.
After six months of discussion of Kherson, TheAdultInTheRoom declared on 15 October:

You'd never even heard of Kherson a week ago.
Understandably, he's trying to forget all about it.
By 19 October, Cold War warrior 2 was hedging his bets:

Who cares about success in one town. U.S. has gone chips in and bought a stalemate.
But I'm still pretty sure losing a big chunk of territory recently declared to be an integral part of Russia isn't how most people define "stalemate."
Finally, making a compelling case for a lifetime achievement award, we have LRC's very own carmine9. First, from 5 September:
carmine9 wrote:
Ukraine cannot stand up militarily to Russia
Then from 27 September, there's this gem:
carmine9 wrote:
Donbas Kherson, Donetsk, Zaporhizia, and Dontesk vote to join Russian federation. Russia will incorporate them into the federation and will consider any attacks on any of these regions... Ukraine is really screwed now.
Consider them what now? And finally, there's this comment from just last month on 5 October:
carmine9 wrote:
Russia is not being routed. How can you guys buy this nonsense? Ukraine is not winning and cannot win a war with Russia.
As we see the piles of mangled Russian equipment, POWs and casualties coming out of Kherson over the next several days, remember, kids: don't believe a word these guys say about anything.
