Is there any way you guys could mobilise some people out there to go out and run with Mimi? It seems no matter what either of us say there'll be no substitute for trusted people to see the attempt with their own eyes.

I can only repeat we don't ban people for having differing opinions. Even opinions we might find insulting. I've disagreed with Markus many times on the URC but he's still an active and voluble contributor.

But as for returning to my little echo chamber as you put it what would that achieve? We're both discussing the same issue and if you guys won't come over there to talk to us or us here to talk to you we'll never get to see each other's viewpoint.

I don't think any one of us know each other so it will all depend if someone just happens to be close by Mimi's route and is interested enough with enough time.

Well hopefully that'll happen. I know you guys did a lot of good work on RY and proved me and a good many others wrong. Hopefully a few runners out there will be able to join in along the way.

In most comparable "head to heads" between me and Mimi, she has done better. (Spartathlon, GUCR, Badwater, Thames Path 100).

I ran across the states in 70 days. My route was about 300 miles longer than Mimi's so lets say I could do that in 64 days.

I was also limited to the race schedule. perhaps I could have done another few miles a day without this restriction? say 3 miles. Say that takes another 3 days off. 61.

I also had to faff about checking in and out of motels and lugging stuff up and down stairs and had not dedicated support crew for most of it. I reckon with dedicated crew feeding and carrying my stuff I could have pushed on another few miles a day. Say taking 3 days off. That's 58.

I also did it in the heatwave of 2011. i reckon with kinder weather I could shave a few mores days off....

oh, and I got food poisoning which was a bit of a shitter. If I avoided New Mexico burgers....

All of a sudden (in my opinion) I reckon I could do this in 53 days. Back of the fag packet I know (I have no idea whether that phrase translates).

I am sure if you can check back I was perhaps one of the first and most vocal against Rob young on the let's run thread frilom the UK. I was also very vocal against him on the UK FB groups and the URC group that Gary is admin on. I got a fair bit of abuse for it and even the let's run group credited me as one of the few at the beginning that was calling him out.

I have e never been banned from the URC because I use my own name like I may here and I use a real profile and I am not abusive in any way.

I knew Rob young personally and know Mimi and the two of them are worlds apart in both ability and character. I stand by the fact that I think Mimi is legit and the important data is correct but I agree it's not helped having bad admin over the trackers. Wether it's a tracker signal/technical issue or simply forgetting to charge them which causes them to shut down and appear off I dont know but it could have been avoided. But the real data on strava etc is there for all to see and usually up pretty quickly.

Examine that. Go and meet her and run with and then make up your minds.

Just as was said with Rob young and he failed the test. I doubt Mimi would.

This has happened multiple times.

It can't be a simple Internet/WiFi availability issue, because they are able to upload posts and even videos to Facebook.

Like you say, you can fake data but it takes time. That's why it is so important to upload the data immediately after the run is over, not days later.

The only thing I would further stress, is that uploading the Strava data immediately after the run should be the highest priority for the forensic evidence (along with the Tracking data) of proving the World Record; i.e., short of having impartial observers 24/7.

I hope Scam_Watcheroo comments here on what you wrote above. I get the impression that it is possible to spoof the data fairly readily once one is set up to do so. I have no idea whether Suunto data is more secure than Garmin in this regard, but SW might.

St Marker I realise you only have my word for this but I didn't get any message from you yesterday. I'm not in the habit of ignoring people. If you have read receipts on your messenger maybe that'll confirm what I've said.

But you clearly have a FB account as you're reading the URC page so why didn't you just use that? I'm not sure what the data mining considerations would have been. The fake profile you created was for a UK resident and you went as far as friending someone to creat the impression of a genuine profile.

As I've said before the issue wasn't with the post but with the fake profile. The post itself wasn't removed but because you were banned it was only visible to admins. I have no idea why

A FB account is not required to read your page. There are very valid concerns why people do not get Facebook accounts. Yet, if you Facebook folks wish to share info with others for the benefits of ubiquitous availability, then it behooves you also to not make the FB page private.

There's no doubt that any data can be spoofed, and I'd actually put 'live' GPS in that category of too. ALL data surely has to be correlated and cross-checked and even then still could only give the balance of probability that it's accurate representation of the facts. Wouldn't data also need backing up by other evidence too; (eye witnesses, photos, log books etc) before GWR (or LR) would approve any record?

I'd be interested to see the raw data from EACH of the suunto's Mimi claims to be wearing. Any script of the type that SW refers to would presumably have to generate slightly differing data each time it ran, as there's invariably discrepancies between devices measuring the same activity.
