The WHO is an organization made up of humans.

Some bad apples, maybe.

The US has been accused of having outsized influence over the WHO for decades because they are the biggest donor. Money gets influence.

Overall, it's a very good organization doing great humanitarian efforts.

Pulling funds from it over some kind of spite is ridiculous and dangerous.

And now is not the time to divest from an international effort trying to study this virus.

Trump makes everything about himself.

This is a worldwide pandemic. Businesses are closing all over the world. It's not beholden to any political parties.

We can't look at this through a US only lens.

Trump can't control the process. He can only control his message and how he is viewed in his handling of this crisis.

He got a bump initially when he held press conferences, talked about the dangers and closed international travel.

But now he plays these blame games and his popularity is going right back down.

So, people hate him as much as ever, don't approve of what he is saying but there is no good economy to talk about.

Let anybody make and market an antibody test, don't require scientific validation, let the free market figure it out. This all sounds like a libertarian wet dream:

WHO is a country club organization founded in the 1940s on postwar sentiment. Whatever structure and purpose it had then has pretty much been eroded to the point where it's just a beggar for funding in exchange for intellectual affirmation. I suspect many of the three letter world organizations will come under the spotlight after all this is done but then again people have been saying that for decades so maybe not

That's a good point.

If you typically owe the IRS, and do not get a refund, the IRS would not have your bank deposit details.

I know I wrote a check to the IRS the last couple years.

I got a direct deposit refund from my state. I used the same online filing service but don't know if the IRS tracks that.

I assume now I will get some prorated check with his name on it. Whenever that comes.

I'm working, so I really don't need the stimulus/rescue. I'll buy stuff with it when come, though.

Globally, for the first time, the 7 day average of daily deaths shows zero percent growth.

The US is worse: +5% per day average for the last 7 days.

Italy/France/Spain continue to show us the way down the other side, as they combined are down an average 3% per day for the last 7 days.

Note that Tuesday seems to be the cyclically worse day of the week.

The numbers for Tuesday are awful, but so were last Tuesday's, and then things got better.

Could be a coincidence, sure.

But that's why I'm using 7 day averages.

Sorry, if not for the WHO, smallpox would still be around and polio would be thriving. It was WHO that pushed for and coordinated efforts toward an Ebola vaccine. Without this organization there would be more explosions of disease everywhere. It is nuts to say it is worthless. It saves lives on a relatively small budget, so you are off your rocker if you think it’s not needed. The reason Trump hates them so much is that their values are not aligned with his even though the US is the biggest donor. Trump thinks that it is HIS money so he expects public praise in return, but how can they praise when he is publicly against science and truth? A petty thin skinned little bi+ch prepared to destroy a good organization and get lots of blood on his hands.

The current situation regarding polio is widely accepted as one of the most embarrassing failures of the WHO in modern globalist society and I don't think I've ever seen someone use that as a case to support them, so that was a great laugh.

As for smallpox, that was officially eradicated over 40 years ago but was effectively eliminated in almost all major population centers by the 1950s. I don't know if you noticed, but a lot has changed since then. No one gives a sh!t anymore about all the postwar sentiment that these organizations were originally founded on. And for the record I never said it had to be eliminated, I only implied that its purpose and source of funding and control needed a little bit of scrutiny to get with the times.
