You telling other people to think things through is pretty rich.
Biden is actively suppressing US oil production while literally begging Venezuela and Saudi Arabia and even Iran to increase production solely to virtue signal to green nuts in his political party.
This is 100% politics.
I definitely have a harder time understanding the right wing/Libertarian mindset than the left wing mindset. Why must everything be a conspiracy?
Your premise is that Biden is actively suppressing US oil production to appease the environmentalist? Do you have a mainstream source (I'm sure there are podcasters galore who parrot that)?
"Many oil and gas executives say they have little interest in increasing oil production — even at crude's near-record prices, which make extraction very profitable for their companies.
The price of crude oil has been steadily rising since the start of last year. It hit $100 a barrel in March after Russia invaded Ukraine — the first time in 12 years it breached three digits. At that price, oil companies would normally race to snap up land and drill new wells. But a sizable number of oil and gas executives are saying they won't increase production at any price, according to a survey released this week by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
Asked what level the price of West Texas Intermediate oil would need to hit to get publicly traded oil and gas companies back into growth mode, 29% of executives said that their expansion plans weren't dependent on price. Another 9% named a price above $120 a gallon."
In the meantime oil producers are on pace for record stock buy backs and dividends. I suppose if I had a conservative mind I could twist that desire to not increase capacity with snuggling up with Biden. Win win right?
The US oil and gas industry has thrown in the towel and acknowledged that the Saudis and OPEC+ have limited their market share. While profits, financing, etc. are certainly factors in the process to decide whether to invest in exploration and production, the US oil and gas sector got burned badly two times by the Saudis' flooding the market with oil to maintain their market share. They do not want to risk crossing that red line with the Saudis and losing their shirts like they did in 2014-15 and 2019. Frackers were able to make production very efficient when the Saudis were flooding the markets and are profitable even at $50 per barrel. But even at $120 a barrel, there is a huge risk of the price crashing if the Saudis decide to flood the market again to win back market share. Thus US rig count flattened out around 762 and won't go over 800 anytime soon.
Why do you believe this and what do you think the US should do about it?
I'd grant that there is a history of corruption in Ukrainian government in recent decades, but why is that important enough in the specific context of the war effort that you raise it as an issue?
The problem is that you're helping people, who came into power through bribes and murder to stay in power. And so does Russia.
History shows that such support can backfire. The US backed anti-Soviet Afghan mujahideen who resisted the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in the 1980s. Today we know this movement as Taliban.
Ukraine needs a complete rehaul, but not by the US or Russia, as both countries have their own agenda and own goals for Ukraine.
Corruption in Ukraine is a holdover from the days when Ukraine was part of the Soviet system. Young people in Ukraine who were not alive when Ukraine was in the Soviet Union reject the old ways of corruption and have been trying to clean up the country's political and economic systems. That is why so many Ukrainians supported joining the EU instead of closer ties with Russia. They see Russia as just a continuation of the old corrupt Soviet system and want nothing to do with it.
And that is really one of the key issues in this conflict. In Ukraine, the owner of the Kyiv Post was trying to silence journalists who were investigating corruption and taking on the government. Those journalists all walked out and started the Kyiv Independent. In Russia, a similar move would at best get the journalists jailed and their newspaper shut down. At worst, they would be murdered walking down the street or suffer a mysterious fall from an apartment balcony. In Ukraine, there is a problem with neo-Nazis in the armed forces. The UA government integrated the Azov regiment into the national guard in order to place them under the central chain of command and reform the group. In Russia, the Wagner Group is given free reign to wage war in Ukraine, including using torture and rape, and has gained influence over the Federal forces as battlefield loses have added up. While Ukraine is generally a socially conservative country, LGBTQ people have been finding more freedom and recognition. In Russia, Putin and his cronies are claiming that the war in Ukraine is part of a culture war against the gays and other deviants. Ukraine has its flaws, but it is moving forward. Russia is actually moving backwards at a very rapid pace.

The reason they are not interested in investing in increased production is that they face an immediate future of denial of leases, massive bureaucratic regulation and pushback from the "No More Fossil Fuels!" Biden regime. So they sit on their capita or funnel it elsewhere, like the green energy ripoff industry.
The government poisons the well then blames industry for not upping their activity. Classic DemoRat tactics.
Has it ever crossed your mind that the oil & gas industry may not be as altruistic as you think and that they may be even bigger rip-offs than the fledgling green energy sector? Oil is at $120/barrel and it costs them around $30/barrel to produce, if now is not the time to chase profits when is it? When all cars are electric and oil is at $25/barrel? Couldn't some argue that if a Republican was in the Whitehouse they'd be producing like mad? Classic Republicrats.
The point being, anyone can override facts (oil industry refuses to produce more in a time of crisis) with partisan mumbo jumbo. Oil production in the US is at an all-time high and it could be much higher. Now's the time to leverage the war in Ukraine and become an oil exporter to Europe not sit around and throw of hissy fit if your premise is true.
Now, that being said, carbon based fuels are on their way out regardless of how much that irks the Boomers.
Trump was impeached over an alleged quid pro quo threat to Ukraine over weapons transfers before an election
Biden just admitted to CNN he is threatening Saudi Arabia if they don’t agree to his quid pro quo for oil transfers before an election

You can figure out the difference between the two actions. It's disingenuous to equate the two when you easily understand the significant differences. Why be so openly disingenuous? Where does that get you?
There are reports that prisoners who were recruiting into serving in the Wagner Group fled en masse after arriving in Ukraine. They took their weapons with them and are heading back to Russia to do crimes.
RU supply chain problems are going to multiply with every day that the Kerch Bridge is closed. It is already taking 3-4 days just to get a truck onto a ferry to cross the straits from Russia to Crimea. Recent satellite photos of the bridge still show the burnt out train on the tracks, meaning that train travel is unlikely to resume any time soon.
Germany is sending its Iris-T missile defense system to Ukraine and a bunch of other countries have made new commitments to provide Ukraine with arms. Russia's "revenge" strikes reveal a severely depleted RU weapons stock pile. A minority of the missiles launched were precision long range weapons. Most were older and less accurate cruise missiles. Think improved SCUD missiles, basically. Interestingly, Israel refuses to provide UA with its iron dome tech, citing strategic relations with RU. RU supports Iran and Syria who are tops on Israel's sh#t list. Pretty interesting to consider what RU has promised Israel in order to keep it neutral on the Ukraine conflict.
According to Russian-appointed head of Crimea, waiting at the ferry crossing in Crimea takes about 3-4 days. And there are about 900 trucks in line at the moment.#Ukraine#Crimeapic.twitter.com/IX1EeiIF8p

. . . I also believe Zelensky is a narcissistic corrupt individual surrounded by gangsters and goons who are lining their pockets with US aid. . . .
Why do you believe this and what do you think the US should do about it?

Maybe stop sending them tens of billions of American taxpayer dollars?

Please explain the difference
Well, on the one hand, Russians are degenerates. And then on the other hand, Russians are cowards and apparently retards. So you can clearly see the difference.

Only a few tens of billions of dollars (which we’re not directly sending them cash in many cases) to destroy Putin and everything he stands for? Deal. Of. The. Century. Jimmy Dore would have told you this, but he couldn’t talk on account of having Putin’s d*ck in his mouth.
90k dead, wounded, or AWOL Russian soldiers so far. Carmine, how high will this number go before Putin realizes he’s not winning?
Russia's "irrecoverable losses" in the war with Ukraine have just become known: according to an FSB source, that figure is 90K. This includes troops who were killed, went missing, died from wounds, or were disabled and cannot return to military service.https://t.co/paAUqNL5u8
According to members of the Russian government, images of missiles hitting apartment buildings brought a “wave of joy and happiness” to tens of millions of Russians. That’s all you need to know about Russia.
Meanwhile on Russian TV: everyone was rejoicing about the latest strikes against Ukraine, but some demanded more, complaining there wasn't enough devastation. Irritated State Duma member complained that they ruined the fun for tens of millions of Russians.https://t.co/InttKZrScTpic.twitter.com/481j9BWFPK

Russians HATE Ukrainians. That was always clear, but we had no idea it was to this extent. There’s dozens of videos on YouTube of miserable Russian peasants and scumbags being interviewed about Ukrainians and it’s incredible the hatred these people can generate.
Russians hate everyone. They even hate themselves. The serf mentality of Russians is a disease.
Vlad 'Dracula' Putin today tried to sell some gas to Germany.. Fast a big NO respond of course. He is really desperate now and the Russian economy on its knees.
