Charleston, SC (downtown)

Pros: Beautiful city/scenery downtown on the peninsula. Beautiful girls. The college is center of downtown. Close to beaches.

Cons: It's in SC. It's in the South. The heat/humidity. Pretty expensive depending on where you live.

Pretty much spot on about the lack of identity.

Lake Norman and Wiley aren't too terribly far away. Maybe UNCC football will boost some of the university spirit/culture.

Agree on the trails, the US National Whitewater Center is awesome, nearby mountains make for a nice day trip.

and WE'RE BRINGING BACK THE BUZZ! Too bad it won't help the W-column one bit

Fat people. I have been here awhile so I am used to it but when I travel it is amazing the difference. So many fat people here. The single life here is weird too. A high percentage of married people, combined with fat people make it a weird single scene here. Good news for guys as they age the single women here will lick and suck anything within an hour or so of meeting. I should put that in the Pro column. Haha

Pros: TONS of history throughout the city. Hyman's Seafood is fantastic

Cons: You will wait for an eternity to get a table at Hyman's. Everything in SC is named for either Strom Thurmond or John C Calhoun

Rochester, MI

Pros: nice town, some pretty decent dining in the area, close enough to downtown Detroit and other attractions, yet far enough away to be more laid back, lost of activities in town, miles and miles of gravel trails and dirt roads for running.

Cons: as more and more people head out this way, lots of construction on the roads to keep up with population growth, weather in this region can suck in the winter.

Right, I was presenting having most of the pros of DC without most of the cons.

I do see the point people have made about city people being pretentious.

Xiamen (China)

Pros: Beautiful scenery, cleanliness, air quality, coastal city, Gulangyu Island, Xiamen Univ. (lots of coeds), coastal city, a bit like Paris

Cons: Food (not chinese and don't really like all the open market food joints, also, very few "western restaurants" the KFC not like KFC in US), hot summers, number of people

Scottsdale, Arizona

Pros: Weather for 9 months out of the year is perfect, night life, women, golf, pro sporting events, running trails, decent cost of living.

Cons: June/July/August. Police are a bit over bearing, and old people driving.

Honestly I think Hyman's is overrated & more for tourists. There are a lot of good places too though (some $$). Good craft beer scene.

Pros: None, except for Cuse basketball.

Cons: Too many.

Syracuse, yeah we may be dumb but we're not f*cking stupid.

They paved over all of the dirt trails at Swan Creek. Toledo does have a great parks system but the city sucks for the most part. Gettin out in a few months.

The 9 months is exaggerated unless you think anything other than hot, sunny weather is crap. There is a long rainy season that runs from about mid Oct till mid April and yes, during that period, the weather does get somewhat tiresome. But the rest of the year is quite dry and pleasant, especially compared to the East.

Especially when you have dietary restrictions. Being gluten free and vegetarian, there are many more options in the LA area vs somewhere in the Midwest for example
