Honestly, I can't believe that Cortland State hasn't been thrown into the title talks yet. Does everyone here have short memory? It was only a few years ago that they were on the verge of setting the meet record for lowest points and they definitely have a chance of bringing another title home this year. They return EVERYONE who finished at nationals (their 7th guy dropped out because of a knee injury). They have Pat Fannon coming out for the team- he's been a member of the track team and ran 14:38 but never ran for the cross team because he plays football in the fall- they finally convinced him to come out, which means they are going to be really stellar now.
On paper, they have:
Fannon 14:38
Hopkins 14:43/30:27
Marcontonio 30:52 and cross all-american as a sophomore
Amengual 8:57 steeple
A few other guys in the low 15s and sub 32, plus a stellar freshman class including a few guys who almost broke 9 in the 2 mile.
Obviously, they have one of the best coaches in the nation and I just honestly think based on their training regime, they are going to surprise everyone this year by running away with it. Those freshman are going to be absolute STUDS
And to those who think I'm hyping up my team- I actually ran for NYU a few years back, I just happen to be living in the area now and see all the training they've been doing and just have a feeling about this team.
