This dude scored 62 against Dallas in 3Q. He didn't play the 4th because it was a blow out victory. He could have scored 80+ twice that season. Dallas went to the finals that year.

If LBJ took 46 shots and 20 FTs, he'd challenge Wilt's 100. Don't be a foll, Kobe has never been as efficient as LBJ. And Lebron's only getting better. He improves his game every single year. Kobe was a pretty stagnant force his entire career. And he never won alone. Needed Shaq and then Pao.
LeBron actually averages more shots per game for his career than Kobe. Do the research.
The fact that it was 46 attempts means nothing. If you knew anything, 46 attempts for 81 points is a wildly efficient game. He shot 61%. Anything else?
The most shots LeBron has ever attempted was 36. He shot 18/36 and scored 56. Kobe's performance was better. That WAS in 2005. So, since you want to base this on shot attempts, the most attempts that LBJ has taken this year is 31. How did he do? 34 points.
LeBron's efficiency has gone through the roof now that he has Wade and Bosh as weapons. Teams can't focus all efforts on him like they did in Cleveland or like they to Kobe in 05/06. Kobe played with Smush Parker, Luke Walton, Kwame Brown as STARTERS, who do you think the game plan was focused on 100%?

A mechanical injury is much more handicapping than the flu. Jordan would not have played through it.
I think everybody is forgetting about the long acclaimed Greatest of All Time: Mr. Wes Unseld. He won a title with the Washingtong Bullets.

Yeah, I'll disagree with the OP on this one. Jordan remains the best. Lebron James is awesome, and he's young enough still that he COULD end up overtaking Jordan, but so far in just about every meaningful way, Jordan was the better player.
i remember listening to the bulls on the radio back in chicago. the commentators would just go nuts and scream themselves silly. it would take minutes to just figure out what jordan had actually done b/c they'd be in such disbelief. he was a one-off. there will never be another like him.
if you watch the jordan hall-of-fame compilation they have excerpts of the radio guys commentating over the highlights.

The latest generation of NBA fans never saw MJ in his prime, besides youtube clips and NBA TV playbacks. There has been nothing like him athletically. He was amazing to watch, just moving around the court even without the ball. He had body control that Ive never seen since. I dont recall him ever spraining his ankle! How is that that even possible? In time his greatness will fade, but thus far he's the greatest ever.

If it was a pure skills test, Lebron might have an edge, but what MJ had that no one other than Russell had was that unstoppable will to win -- or, more aptly, utter hatred of losing. In that regard, Kobe is ahead of Lebron too.
Lebron may very well be a nicer person and has more balanced life, but if you were choosing a team as if your life depended on it winning, MJ gets chosen first every time.
MJ...6 finals appearances, 6 Championships, 6 Finals MVP's, Highest PPG average for a finals (1993 with 41 PPG). Never let one of those finals go to 7 games. MJ played through a much tougher time frame, too. The East was loaded with talented teams during his time. First it was the Celtics, then the Pistons, then the Knicks. This was "you bring the ball near the basket, you are going to get leveled" style of basketball. Jordan excelled during this time.
It's not even close. I'm not even a big MJ fan and I will say this.

I grew up in Massachusetts, so I know a thing about basketball history and WINNING basketball being a Celtics fan. My dad took me to the Garden to see them play during their '68 championship run. Obviously you guys are of that age where you were young when Jordan came up, and so you IDOLIZE him because you were so impressionable and Nike did a great job of cramming him down your throats.
He's great, no doubt. But the truth is that that was a weak point in the league. Magic and Bird, the two greats before him, both had their careers ended way to early. If Paul Pierce had injured his back or Kobe contracted AIDs (instead of being the beneficiary of two of the most egregious trades in NBA history) maybe a young Lebron would have gotten an extra title. Also basketball is truly a worldwide sport now (thanks to Magic, Bird and of course Jordan), where the talent pool is worldwide. Jordan didn't have to run into the likes of Dirk Nowitzky and Tony Parker (the Spurs would have MURDERED the Stockton/Malone Jazz).
Finally, measuring players in rings is as dumb as measuring MLB pitchers in wins. It's a team sport. Unless you want to claim Robert Horry is better than Jordan.
LeBron is amazing to watch. He's so versatile. To see the way he has changed his game the last few years is truly amazing. You watch your Jordan YouTube highlight reals, and I'll watch Game 6 of last year's Eastern Conference Finals and will look forward to watching more transcending performances in the upcoming months.

No, you really need to read the book. Michael Jordan and the New Global Capitalism. Read it. Learn it. It will teach about more than just Jordan, too, obviously.

I think you are being the revisionist. It was a bizarre game. (It's not "the media" - you sound like Rush Limbaugh) No sign of the injury until late in the game when he takes off his arm band. Who knows why that happened. However, Jordan never looked that listless going something like 3-14 in a pivotal playoff game.Lebron is better now but he wasnt that focused on winning it all when in Cleveland. He was on the team with the top record. They seemed to care a lot about dancing, goofing off on the sidelines and generally rubbing it in when they were blowing teams out. Then- when things got tight- Lebron froze.Things are better now. Reminds me of when Shaquille finally focused in LA.Lebron has great skill for a man his size. He is huge for an SF. His career stats will be huge because he played in the ''no college" era. Easily the best in 15 years.
