To the OP: will you show/share some of the results once you compile everything? I'm assuming you will bucket or get some distribution, right? Not just average height and weight.
To the other posters: damn...everything is so skinny here. At 147lbs for my short height people already hint that I'm more 'skinny' than 'athletic'. which sucks!

The data posted here, even if genuine, are not typical for "runners." This is the skinniest and fastest 10% or maybe 5% of "runners."
If you care about the validity of your study, you need to define your sample set more precisely and collect your data in some other way. Google "selection bias."
Statistics is an amazing tool.

Is there a letsfootball.com to provide an even sample size for comparison?

lord. these will be the most inaccurate/misleading/useless statistics ever.
i suppose your presentation could begin:
"The following are averages of purported heights and weights among computer users logged into Letsrun.com on the afternoon of Feb. 18, 2011, who clicked on the site's message board, who then clicked on a thread soliciting self-reported dimensions, who then submitted those unverifiable dimensions...."

I think all of these people talking about the obvious flaws in the OP's methods are missing the point. I would guess that the purpose of the assignment is to apply statistical methods to information in order to reach conclusions. I doubt the professor is concerned that much with bias in what is probably an entry-level stats course.
Of course, I could be off base here, and the OP could be creating a monstrosity. I'll still give him the benefit of the doubt.
