That's an oddly insulting comment. I'm well aware that Dennett has acquired a certain level of fame, even among casual readers of philosophy and others who engage in debates and discussions about popular topics like atheism and evolution. In my earlier post, I didn't say that I wasn't aware that Dennett is still around, or that I wasn't aware that people still read and talk about him. I said that I remembered him very well, from his days as a young professor in the '70s, and that I was glad to see that he's still out there, writing and talking about important things. I'm even glad to see that you have apparently acquired a passing familiarity with him, at least to the extent that you feel comfortable insulting someone who remembers him from a time that, judging from the tone and content of your comment, probably predated your birth.
