Any word on what the MIAC teams are getting in terms of incoming freshman this year?

jon murphy said in his facebook status that he is excited for all the blue chip recruits hamline got...might be enough to beat the blue chippers of carleton
Any names on these hamdog blue chips? I know that Gustavus is getting Anders Bowman, a 4:26 miler from Wayzata.
if he doesnt kill himself from having to live in st. peter...a slight upgrade from deep snelling st. paul or the area augsburg is, still pretty bad though...i don't understand why anyone would chose a miac school other than SJU st. thomas or olaf
whats funny about this comment is the fact that you rip on the areas of miac schools, yet the ones you cite are also the locations of Carleton, Mac, Hamline, Bethel, and Augsburg
I would hazard a guess that a lot of kids going DIII are also concerned with academics, more so than location, compared to say the scholarship athletes of D1.
I heard they have 5 or 6 guys...4 of them sub 17 5kers in cross, of course this is from Jon murphy so its sketch

Yeah, why would you go to St. John's, St. Thomas, or St. Olaf if you could go to Carleton or Macalester?

St. Thomas does have scholarship athletes; everyone knows that
I heard St. Thomas is getting one of the Hutton brothers, but he is playing soccer. Anyone know of any truth in this?
I don't mean to pop your elitist bubble but graduating from Carleton or Macalester does not mean squat outside of MN. Don't get me wrong, these schools probably have great academic programs, but when you are looking for a job after school, the 90% employers of employers outside of MN will just look at your degree and GPA. If you are a Stanford, Harvard, etc, yeah that is a different story, but a small D3 school...come on...outside of MN a degree at Carleton and Macalester has the same value as any other school.
Nothing against Carleton or Macalester, but these schools may not fit some of these kids personalities, they may be too expensive, maybe they want a Catholic school, or hey maybe they want to be on a decent football team that also has good academics.

It is true. Soccer and track. The other is going to the U, I believe.
you mention that people may not go to carleton or mac because it doesnt fit their personality, we all know what that means and can read between the lines that if you are weird, nerdy, artsy etc. you go to these schools...but I wonder why this is because there is definitely some truth to it, how does a culture like this develop
As a long time Central region observer, how will the MIAC teams stack up in the region this year? Who looks strong outside of Minnesota?
There maybe some truth to what you are saying, but the fact is Mac, Carleton and Olaf students will go to much better grade schools and get a better professions because Grade schools are actually aware of schools like Mac and Carleton and Olaf. Once again, a degree from Carleton, Mac or Olaf will open many doors at least in the Mid-west and possibly South because they ain't got Sh*t as far as academics or running in general.

Hopefully graduates of carleton, macalaster or olaf aren't trying to get into grade school.
don't try to include olaf w/ mac or carleton.

College is not just job training. If that's what you think why don't you just go to a technical school or something that you only have to do for 2 years.
And Carleton is just as good as Harvard and Stanford.

St. Olaf students are trying to get into grade school. To their credit though, St. Olaf is the 3rd best school in Northfield.
.

sounds like a carl is pissed he couldnt get into harvard. honestly, carleton is not even close to as good of school. furthermore, harvard isn't really considered that great. the only thing keeping them high on the list is their history.
Yawn.
How about we stick to cross country and stop the pointless (and often inaccurate) comparison of schools?
