Trash talking? I just stated the facts. Lebron dominated Kobe in their head to head matchups this year and Lebron played much better than Kobe on the Olympic team. The regular season MVP is not aboout who is the best player. Kobe was arguably that for two or three years without winning it. Lebron has now passed him as the better player but will not get the award when half the Cavs were injured and the other half were traded during the season. Do you know about the 94-95 Houston Rockets?

Lebron is a better passer and rebounder. Kobe is a better scorer (not by much, though) and defender. I think you could make a case for either. I'm inclined to side with Kobe, for right now, but every year that passes Lebron's advantage increases.

How can I make this any clearer? The Cavs beat the Lakers both times this year. When Lebron guarded Kobe in the 4th quarter, Kobe shot 15%. I am not delusional about this.

Did you watch the olympic qualifying games? Lebron was clearly the best player on that team and his stats backed that up. Have you watched Lebron play defense this year? He has improved tremendously. His blocks were up. His steals were the highest since his second year, and his rebounding was up. He was also guarding the other teams best player in the 4th quarter most games and was the reason the cavs had many come from behind wins this year.

Kobe does have one thing to be proud of in this season of him becoming the "great" team player. He MISSED the most shots of anyone in the league. I guess missing 915 shots is an improvement over the 05-06 season when he MISSED 1195 shots. There were only 22 players in the whole league who even attempted that many shots that year.

If you want to talk about propaganda, just watch ESPN. The first game against Denver, they showed all nine shots he made and reported like he was the star of the game. They failed to mention the 17 shots he missed while his teammates were shooting 56% from the field. That makes the following statement Kobe made even more ridiculous.

"Bryant, who said he made himself a decoy through most of the game, scored 18 of his 32 points in the final 8 minutes to keep Los Angeles safely ahead."

Rippy, I'll give you that you have pulled some pretty good stats to back what you are saying. Taking two games in which Lebron beat Kobe hold some water - they really do. But the fact is you can pull statistics from all over the place to say different things, but when it comes down to it, you have to watch the games to know who is "better". Both are great - one may have a better night Monday, the other might have a better night on Tuesday.

But you also have to watch the games, take into account who they might be playing (which to be honest, the Laker's - or any West team - strength of schedule makes the East look like college ball. It is a different world. Granted - Lebron doesn't have the supporting cast the Lakers now have, take a look at how those players have developer over the last couple years, under AT LEAST some guidance from Bryant.

Last thing - Lebron does not have that "win" button that Kobe seems to be able to press at will. He has such control over his game at times it is scary. I'll admit at times he gets out of control adn tries to take over too much, but no player is perfect. But his intangibles are what make him above the rest of the league right now.

LeBron is an amazing player, but it is utterly foolish to cast him in the same light as a player ALREADY sporting three championship rings and about to capture another, no matter the supporting cast. LeBron could beat Kobe at a game of horse, yes, but that's about it.

Let's just assume for a minute that it is true that LeBron's supporting cast sucks, relatively speaking. All that means is that LeBron's stats will be inflated because he is doing everything, as were Kobe's when the lakers were "down." Comparing stats is meaningless. How much more inflated would Kobe's stats have been if Shaq wasn't always clogging up the middle?

I'd rather be a Celtics player right now.

Well, I did watch all 10 Olympic qualifiying games when they were on the same team. I do have season tickets to the cavs so I watched every single game they played this year. I have been watching Kobe play since he has been in the league. I have also been watching the NBA since the days of Wilt, Kareem, Artis, Julius, and Tiny.
