Bridgewater didn't place very well at NYU, but they didn't race Deng, plus Lori will have them peaked at the right time.

Even with Deng, Bridgewater would have had two guys around 100th place in that field. I'm sure none of the other VA schools considered themselves in peaking shape for the NYU meet. Bridgewater just has a HUGE drop-off after their top-3.
as of right now its a huge drop after their top 2, deng has yet to finish a race this year
bumpy mcbumperson
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
All the kings horses,
and all the kings men,
will never see a VA school at nationals again
Get real guys. When was the last time a VA school went to nationals on the men's side. Emory, Rhodes and Centre will sweep the SSE regionals ... again ... and send the VA folks back to VA to learn more about peaking at end of the season ... and not at the VA Schools Po-dunk Invitational.
i hate VA
Who all is headed to the Rhodes Invitational next weekend?
Where is zerzan? how come she isnt racing?
Colorado College and DePauw don't run in the South Region at the Regional meet, right?
GO COLONELS!!!!

Results from this weekend's Texas DIII Championships:
University of Texas at Tyler: 39 points
Trinity: 43 points
McMurry 61 points
Southwestern: 114 points
McMurry hosted the meet and has not posted full results. UT Tyler became a full NCAA D3 member this past summer and plans, I am told, to run at the regional meet.
Just found this on the UT Tyler website:
For the past two years, The University of Texas at Tyler men’s cross country team has dominated the American Southwest Conference. This season, as full members of the NCAA, the excitement level is even higher.
“Two years ago, it was enough to win the conference,” UT Tyler cross country coach Bob Hepler said. “That was really exciting. Last year, it was really anti-climactic. We had a good meet against McMurry, and they pushed us, but we got five of the top seven places and then saw McMurry go on to place top five in the region and get close to one of those top two spots that get you to nationals.”
“It was frustrating to know that we really had a shot to make and do well at nationals last year.”
On the men’s side, the Patriots return nearly their entire team from last year’s ASC championship squad. Hepler said last year’s champs are looking forward to moving up.
“This year with everyone back and the return of R.J. Cowan after an injury-shortened season, plus adding some talented freshmen to the mix, we’re really looking forward to the season.”
“The thing that’s really exciting about the men this year is they are coming into the season in shape. They’ve never done that before. For example Ben Donnan, who won conference and set three records at the ASC track meet, was running twenty miles a week last summer. This summer, he ran forty to sixty miles a week.”
“We have some people who are averaging eighty to a hundred miles a week. They came to school ready, it’s very exciting.
There is no way that guys from UT Tyler are AVERAGING 100 per week. And there is no way they have a chance at being tops in the region. Top 5 in the South Region isn't really an accomplishment or close to the top 2.
hey dbag. i think the point of bringing up UT Tyler, is that they are a new team people don't know about, but should probably be included somewhere in the region rankings. People include Trinity, but UT-Tyler beat them, so perhaps UT-Tyler should be in the picture also.
It was mentioned above about Bridgewater that Deng hadn't raced yet. He finally did this past wekend at Roanoke in a very low-key meet. I know it wasn't anything impressive, but man he gets in shape quick, though. Bridgewater is still a team to watch.
Thanks for the info on UT-Tyler. I'm sure a lot of people like myself didn't even realize they were in the Region now. It will be interesting to see how they do.
Little Miss Muffett sat on a tuffet,
eating her curds and way,
along came a spider that sat down beside her...
and watched as the south region got beat up by a big state school with minimal admission standards that decided to join the ranks of the D3 south region and blew everyone away and suddenly thought they were great ... Hurray for them!!
Let's here it for D4!!
ouch.
but its true, its the weakest region in the weakest division. I'd be willing to bet the best highschool teams in many states would take it to the best teams in the South region.
deng's 29:16 makes him in shape?
WHO'S HEADED TO RHODES???
I am by no means making predictions of Lynchburg making it to nationals, or even a top 3 spot, but... Lynchburg does have the talent to do big things this year if health stays on their side. I am pulling for Lc because I have family ties to the team and would love to make the trip out to nationals to see him run.
Flynn has to be the region favorite and is a 14:40 guy to boot. Should be a top 3 at worst at regions.
Jacobs is running these times off of 5 weeks of training after missing a good bit of the summer and is still pr'ing by a good bit. He is also a 4:05/15:40 guy on the track as a true frosh. Should be all region, and with a great race a top 10-15 guy.
Falke has the talent to run in front of Jacobs and did all last year. Could be a top 10-15 guy if he runs like capable.
VanAlstine is the wild card. The most talented of the lot, and if he can get in shape by regions can be expected to be top 10. Was running in the 26:00 area during the late spring for 5 mile road races as well, so is a major threat.
Kevin Peggs as a #5 man is a great cornerstone for the team and is running big pr's this year.
Actually, UT-Tyler is probably not a top 5 regional team (unless you consider Trinity to be a top 5 team).
