Dom Ellis gets the 1600/3200 double in D1. On the girl's side Strongsville's Hannah Jicha dominates the 1600 with almost a 7 second win.
What's up with Iggy's Maxwell Friedrich? Was he injured over the winter or early in the season? I would have pegged him as the 1600 favorite after last season.
Dom Ellis also made podium in the 800, although times were awfully slow in the 8 this year. 1:54 barely made it out of Central OH districts 2-3 years ago, and this year it's an all-Ohio time. Odd.

Did he? I don't think he did as he finished 11th.
But he contributed to all of St. X's 28 points--after his solid efforts in the 4x800, 3200, and 1600, his participation in the 800 was just a bonus.

The D2 800m was where it was at this year.
IMO, they didn't carve up the divisions the way they should have. The took the top 64 biggest schools and made that D1. The problem is, they simply dumped ALL the rest of the other former D1 schools, and made that D2. It didn't surprise me that D2 was more competitive - there are probably more total boys in D2 than D1, just not by the individual schools.
Here's a question: who had the more impressive state meet triple: Ben Gabelman in 2024 (district-regional format) or Dom Ellis in 2026 (Super Regional era)?
Ben Gabelman Day 1: 4x800, 7:39.91 (1st) Day 2: 1600, 4:08.75 (1st) 3200, 9:06.80 (5th)
Dom Ellis Day 1: 4x800, 7:42.84 (2nd) 3200, 9:10.04 (1st) Day 2: 1600, 4:10.37 (1st)
They faced different schedule formats, which one is more grueling, the 4x800/3200 double on day one or the 1600/3200 double on day two?

That's not even close. 16/32 on same day is much harder.
