I use to bag on them as well until they blasted my ass in Cross. I was also impressed with Mark Menefee at the trials. 4 in the top 12 is impressive when the two guys (Eberly and Humphrey) that qualified for the 10k on the track didn't even run. Was Verran there? I didn't see him, but a few guys did DNF. Tegenkamp and Hubbard and I know there were others.
I respect the Hanson's but M. Morgan didn't perform up to RRCA standards. Did he? And Chad must be tired. But Brian's a bad ass as usual.
The official readings for Mobile AL
The temp at 7:53 was 69 with a dewpoint of 66 (so relative humidity was 90%), while it was 73 at 9:53 with a dewpoint of 67 (so relative humidity was about 83%. (The 8:53 reading is missing). This is certainly warm enough to be muggy (in Spain for Geb I am guessing that the dewpoint was 50 or lower, although that is just a guess, so that the relative humidity was WAY down, 25% or so, and remember a 28min 10K on a fast track is not very quick for Geb)

I thought the humidity was in the 60's and must've read the dew point instead. But going back, I see the humidity was in the 90%'s. Pretty tough weather THIS time I'll have to admit.

Because it feels good for him to finally race, and to feel that fast. He could go out and run just as hard and run a 2900 and he would probably say he dind't feel great because he felt sluggish despite working hard....or if he went out and ran 2810 like today he might have felt the same amount of pain but felt great because he felt like his legs were moving quickly. Feeling great and not being in pain are not the same thing in the way he was using it.
I thought that Morgan (not a speed guy) did ok. He was within a couple seconds of Jennings and Connor.
What about Moen finishing 4th? He did great. Also Gaudette finishing 12th was very good as well. I would say the Hansons had a very good showing.

In HS he showed that he can run with the best, and race is a bulls***. Now he just needs to keep healthy and he sould get back to being A much faster runner then he was at that point for aged. People need to rember that Geb was about 25 when he broke 27 for the frist time. Times have got much faster. But I cannot help but wonder, if a man can run 26:30 on the track running under 2:05 on a flat fast corse with pacers should be no problem.
I just hope his coach rembers this just how long the season really is. It is great to be fit, but I don't know of any runner who could hold there top form for long long amounts of time. I really think the Late and Truly Great Mr Lyidard was right on this one.
Ritzov is great but he's not the future of american distance running, this guy already trained like a pro in high-school, not much space for improvement left-i guess he will max out around 13:10/27:20 what is fantastic but no ARs or international medals for him.
Kennedy ran 13:20 off 60mpw(and less in HS) then pushed his training to the max and ran 12:58, Ritz ran 13:20 off 100mpw at altitude, its unrealistic that he has the same improvements post-college as Kennedy,Broe,Meb or Abdi.
Ritzenheins future is the marathon but now that the young ethiopian armada(Sihine,Berhanu,Gebremariam) as well as guys like Tadesse,Wanjiru,the Kenyan-Qataris are already anticipating their Marathon debuts the chance of good european and american 10k runners finding a niche in the Marathon as Baldini or Rey is slimming down.

If he can stay reasonably healthy, then I think he'll break the U.S. 10K record and place top 8 in the WC and/or Olympics. I think he's that good of a racer if healthy. It's shocking how quick he gains fitness and it may be a sign that extended health could give him some great future performances.
I don't understand why people are bashing Jennings. 15th in the US Champs 10k for a MILER is not a bad day's work. He's out there racing and running faster than most of us on this board. Let it be.

Running is a sport. Fans will bash and praise athletes even if fans are potbelly coach potatoes. If fans are not allowed to criticize athletes, then running becomes a sissy sport that is not worth.
