keep in mind if Sage and cam hanes were in the same room, Sage would tower over cam. it doesnt matter how much lateral growth cam has in his arms and chest.
Sage has over half a foot of vertical dominance over cam. cam will never confront Sage in person because he would have to look up at him.
seriously pathetic that cam and his gigachad followers resort to ad hominem attacks and death threats against Sage.
Pretty sure I saw a video of Cam Haines putting up 19 reps @ 225 aka 2-plates on the bench. Even for someone that's not natty, that's crazy high strength for someone his age. Don't think Cam has much to worry about.
Aravapai’s Tucson marathon is a WMM AG qualifier (whatever that is). But Abbott now knows about their relationship with someone bragging about cheating. Maybe they won’t lose golden tickets but maybe WMMs will be more proactive

"Even for someone that's not natty"
God I'm so freaking tired of hearing this. Without a doubt, every time, there is some doofus in the comments saying this.
No dude, it's not impressive. It would be impressive if he was clean, and it's probably achievable clean too. But he's not, he doesn't know how to train, has no talent and that's why he resorted to PED's. That's most likely why he has so many followers, his followers find him relatable.
Tim Tollefson will interview Travis Tygart at TrailCon.
Will he be allowed to ask him about Cam / age groupers
Tim is around my age (turned 40+ Masters now) so maybe he will? As a fellow HOKA sponsored athlete and OTQ marathon guy back in the day (and now RD) I respect Tim a ton and hope he does the right thing here (unlike Dbo and some other "running media outlets and personalities".... I'm looking at you Jake Puzey and Finn and Boulder Boys....I even wasn't fond of Des's lackluster take on this (although see the bias of her posting a pic with Cam and being on his pod... when she could've actually also posted a pic with me since we were actual teammates at Hansons?).
I mean if you're in that kind of position and really care about clean sport it's like why not speak up? Yeah, I've gotten some "backlash" but my Instagram following has stayed pretty much exactly the same since this case came out (lost a few thousand followers, gained a few thousand followers). I don't care about that though. Having some of Cam's followers wishing death on me is not cool. He prompted them to lash out.
I gotta admit I've been disappointed that more fellow sponsored ultra-trail runners haven't reached out with being more outspoken with support on this case. Although Joe Gray and Camille have actually. Maybe it all helps we are over 40 now? I dunno. It's depressing.
I'm going to be more proactive with the PTRA "anti-doping board" moving forward... Corinne didn't keep me in the loop last time I asked, but yeah I'm at odds with a lot of CTS affiliated coaches (full disclaimer) too. I feel like the brand was kinda built on guys like Lance Armstrong...
At the end of the day yeah maybe a lot of non-sponsored BQ types and "health optimization" types are on these banned peptides and other stuff nowadays. The whole hybrid-influencer and "Go One More" and "Keep Hammering" kinda attitude and crew seems to think more selfishly with their individual gains and what it means to actually be strong, lift heavy and run fast.
From the whole Backyard Ultra Scene to Masters doing well in Marathons and Ultras the landscape is ripe for doping and cheating. Especially at this day and age of social media content and looking for views and attention and some sort of influencer shilling. The optics all matter. The image and likeness and culture is all part of it.
Maybe I'm just biased because it's also how I try to make an income and some money (being an aging sponsored-runner-influencer)?, but at it's core it's still cheating and against race rules and regulations (to take banned PEDs) and I feel like the integrity of the sport and what "honest hard work" and actually means is all on the line there. We open up this Laissez-faire attitude towards doping culture and where are we at? Younger guys in their 20s and 30s taking T and peptides that they totally don't need to run a BQ or do better in an ultra and then getting cancer or some other long-term bad health issues/outcomes for it?
Just doesn't sit right. Not to mention taking places and times and podiums from clean athletes that actually follow the rules of the sport...
What I don’t understand is why a person such as Hanes would sign up for a road race and then lose his mind about being held to the same standards as every other participant
Bet he’s on a lot more than TRT and Chinese peptides
I gotta admit I've been disappointed that more fellow sponsored ultra-trail runners haven't reached out with being more outspoken with support on this case. Although Joe Gray and Camille have actually. Maybe it all helps we are over 40 now? I dunno. It's depressing.
Are you still wining about this? Accept that aside from 40-50 dorks on this thread, no one cares about your weird crusade against CH and his kid
it’s over. Name dropping more people that you’re disappointed in isn’t going to change the overall public opinion about this

Actually "you" sound obsessed with reading and posting about it. Why take the time if it doesn't matter to you? Do you know this Cam and are trying to defend him? You don't smell good to me.

It seems to me that there has been a dramatic shift over the past 25 years in many aspects of life, with the importance of personal integrity steadily declining. Part of this can be attributed to broader societal and institutional decay. Another factor is the rise of narcissism among a significant portion of the population. Social media has been a major driver of this trend, as has a generational shift away from traditional values that emphasized a less self-focused worldview.
Ultra-running appears to be symptomatic of this broader cultural trend. Running extreme distances, displaying personal branding through tattoos, documenting every aspect of one's running and personal life on YouTube, and using legal, semi-legal, or illegal substances to enhance performance and attract attention can all come across as prideful, self-promotional, and pretentious.

To give Moi credit, on their most recent episode they opened the pod by bringing it up again and trying to laugh off how much engagement the last episode got in the comments, and give Matt and Adam an opportunity to comment as they weren't on the previous episode. Matt literally said nothing, and then Adam gave a pretty hand-wavy answer, somebody brought up people's Dads again and how confusing the USADA website is to figure out what's banned (I feel like a good rule of thumb is if you are using a syringe, that's probably something you should at least be wary of, but I digress...).
Anyway, Moi showed up like 30 minutes into the episode, after they had moved on. He said he had done some research and then had a very fair take, called Cam out for continuing to claim to be a "bow hunter", said he needed to pick a lane. And then when somebody brought up how Cam had admitted he used it so probably didn't realize it was wrong, Moi pushed back to the effect of, "yeah but when he was told it was against the rules, he didn't apologize, he doubled down and said it didn't matter."
So fair play to Moi for trying to educate himself on what actually happened and being willing to have an opinion. The dialogue during his segment was definitely the most interesting and real.
Adam brought up a couple times that their podcast is literally just conversations they have while out running as a way of explaining why their takes might be uninformed or lack detail. I respect that and honestly that's the main appeal of their show. There is very little agenda, they just shoot the sh*t and let Seth call Ben Dhiman and Rachel Entrekin out. It's great entertainment and usually very down to earth.
And credit to them to be willing to actually bring it up not once but twice now. The fact that 4 of the 5 dudes have kind of missed the mark in most peoples' eyes here on this thread is what it is.
For what it's worth, I think the ambivalence shown by the Boys and other media personalities is emblamatic of how most folks view the issue, and that we certainly are in an echo chamber on this thread. Among my own group of trail buddies, who range from 35-55 years old, the majority are kinda like, "eh whatever" or "peptides being banned is just big Pharma trying to keep us from stuff that works..."
All that said, thanks again Sage, unfortunately being right and being popular are not often possible together.

You have a lot of people feeling the same way. Unfortunately, they don't have big platforms. Thanks for doing what you are doing.
What the Cam supporters don’t understand is what it feels like to be the 50yr old in the same race that kills himself everyday week in, week out, and can only run 2:50. That 50yr old battles with that fitness barrier line that he can’t get passed. There is a great amount of respect for that barrier. Then that 50yr old goes to his race, and there is a 58yr old sailing by, looking insanely fit. That guy flies by look a superior lifeform. You have major respect for that because you know how hard it is to be at that higher level. Then you find out that 58yr old guy uses banned drugs. And further, is unapologetic, and says it doesn’t matter.
If you’re that 50yr old guy, that will likely bother you, possibly a lot. And you will feel that you it needs be corrected, and shouldn’t be glossed over. Because it strikes you deeply. Because you live and experience those barriers everyday.
That is why this stuff strikes a major chord with serious runners. Because we know the incredible, day in, day out, body of work. We know the barriers and they are f****ng hard to break clean.
This post - extensively liked by 50 year olds in that exact scenario hahahahahahahaha
Just discovered this thread. This thread just screams Beta BIG time. Cam Hanes isn’t even a runner. He is a bow hunter. He can take whatever. Sage is the professional and he just sounds a bit uptight and beta.

I definitely see this. Everyone is like "nobody cares, get over it." Agree with the personal accountability. There are still bright spots of humanity. I saw people helping others across the finish line at the Cbus 10k yesterday.

What struck me about the original boulder boys video is the disconnect Seth and Drew had to the average runner. Seth talking about his dad not knowing if he takes a banned substance. And Drew saying basically elites train the hardest and we should only pay attention to them for clean sport. The average runner puts in a lot of time for marginal gains. Most People don’t want to face a bunch of bros cheating with test and peptides. Drew was blessed with the running genes. He doesn’t work any harder. In fact I know for a fact his training volume is low relative to his skill. Perhaps as sage says they may care more when they’re older.
