Even Vice President JD Vance, a longtime skeptic of American military interventions in the Middle East, argued in a White House Situation Room meeting that if the United States was going to hit Iran, it should “go big and go fast,” according to people familiar with his remarks.

Trump is already well down the road of conceding defeat.
He stated the objectives of the operation. None of it is for regime change. All of them are rather lame.
The stated objectives are:
1. Destroy Iran's nuclear program. A program Iran was never pursuing in the first place according to our own CIA intelligence.
2. Destroy Iran's navy. Iran was never that serious about a navy. Their land mass puts them in proximity to block the straight of Hormuz better than any aircraft carrier group. All those small speed boats and naval drones they used can be rebuilt in good time after the U.S. and Israel punch themselves out.
3. Eliminate Iran's ability to support terrorist groups. Again, Iran can rebuild that pipeline of support in quick time.
4. Destroy Iran's missile capability. That objective will be achieved in time only because Iran will be using their entire arsenal to keep the gulf of Hormuz closed and keep on blowing up Israel and U.S. targets.

i think you have a faint idea what counts as "boots on the ground" or "in the theater" in this kind of missile and drone warfare. your brain hasn't updated to ukraine yet.
And the fact that Trump repeatedly claimed that we totally obliterated their ability to get nukes just a few months ago and that there is zero evidence whatsoever that Iran was on the verge attaining a nuclear warhead doesnt give you even a moment's pause, huh?

But for 30 years the main struggle against Iran has been about their drive for nukes. Period.

Iran provides roughly 90% of the funding to Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and a number of other proxies in Iraq, Syria and Bahrain. They are the primary entity destabilizing the Middle East and supporting terror, and they’ve been doing it for generations. It’s gotten old and has brought nothing but pain to those they allege to help.
Baloney. Hamas is a home grown Palestinian Org and Hezzbolla homegrown Lebanese. Both arose due to invasions and occupation by Israel. Israel, which receives far more funding from the US than Iran gives to anyone, has already destabilized and balkanized the ME and visited fare more terror than anyone could imagine. They specialize in blowing up schools and hospitals for God's sakes
Homegrown or not, if you pull Irans funds, weapons and training from those entities and there is no October 7th, there is no war in Gaza, there are are no attacks on Hamas command and control centers in hospitals, etc. Iran has brought the Palestinians nothing but pain, fueling a war that can’t be won against an opponent that isn’t going away. They wish to eradicate Israel with a nuke. That was the Ayatollah’s dying wish. A wish that we cannot allow to happen.
