Actually, it looks like Mimi has been done her run for some time now since both her morning and afternoon runs from today are uploaded to Strava now despite her GPS tracker still showing her support car moving while her and the RVs trackers as offline. I declare her GPS tracker worthless and cannot be used to locate her at all.

A slow bicyclist (or two) with confusing tracker placement is the next secondary level of cheating to suspect, once the realtime tracking is being enforced. But once the latter is enforced, surprise visitors could more readily pick up on secondary cheating tactics.

I'm starting to suspect the 'thick and cheerful' housewife thing is playing into a sophisticated cheating effort here. They (probably) have thoroughly thought this thing through, and have reviewed the mistakes of previous frauds that were exposed.

It is really too bad that it has taken us here over two weeks to see this egregious error in her logging.

More insanity. The posters exposing Mimi are now, in your eyes, "trolls". And I have no idea what you are referring to with regard " raising pitchforks against Sandra Vi by asking questions and investigating". So far, last I checked Sandra Vi's effort looks legit. That Garmin realtime online upload is BEAUTIFUL, especially compared to what we are getting from the Mimi effort. And the Mimi folks were well aware of the need for the GOLD STANDARD, judging from past comments.

The afternoon Strava shows she ran from where the RV is (not where Mimi is) on her webpage an then continued for 35.3 km, and 10 km past the point where the support car is stopped.There seems to be zero reliability to the position points on her webpage.

I've uploaded a screenshot of Mimi's tracker and Strava widget showing the mismatch between the tracker and how the Strava data already gets uploaded before the GPS tracker positions even make sense. Hopefully Markus will find this useful in asking questions.

Interesting to note: The support car moved in the afternoon very close to 10 km. Mimi end her run very close to 10 km from the support car. Meaning there are two 10 km moves from her webpage data. She is certainly locked into using round km numbers. Maybe her support car is leaving 10 km markers on the road for her to target running towards.

Man, you did a great job on this post. I like the 'closed book' analogy, and the "all the warts". That latter phrase is something I want to key in on, to try and get folks to grasp just how essential realtime tracking is. For example, one day, the forum here picked up on Sandra, having an issue, and could tell from the data, that she faltered, the RV picked evidently picked her up, and then they had to go back to that point the next day. Whereas, without realtime data, even a well-meaning runner can start to slide into the grey area, into the cheating, and just pass it off the next day as no big deal. For instance, say one afternoon Mimi is really knackered and she starts limping. The crew tells her to stop and ice it. They put her in the RV and have to go get ice. Then they have to take her back....but maybe they just sort of forget where exactly she stopped; no problem, the strava data can fix those little minor issues, because they are not under the spotlight of realtime tracking.

Now the average joe would say what I just described is cheating. But one needs to understand that there is a different psychosis going on in with these runners performing these extreme endurance efforts. The WILL to do it, in their mind, is just as important as the doing it, because it is that strong will belief that gets them through the really touch patched. So 'stuff' like what an outsider would call cheating, are just minor bugaboos that can get WILLED through. They may not even realize they actually cheated. It is put out of their minds. At least this is my interpretation of Mimi, listening to her describe her past eating disorder, and confessing that she was a good liar when it was going on.

AND, that data "wart" is still there. She did not tweak anything on the Garmin.

To figure out how far she has actually run you need to subtract that 30 mile "wart". It is not removed from the overall mileage.

So you see? Realtime tracking is not only essential for purveyance by the outside viewers. It is also a means for the athlete to keep themselves accountable to the themselves and the effort. Unfortunately, Mimi has chosen to throw that accountability out the window.

What happened with the data wart (the double back) is that the support car picked her up and drove to a campground where the RV was parked. That makes all the sense in the world to me. Why force yourself to stop on the road? Her planned run fell short. She didn't have it that day. Better to get a ride to a real shower, maybe even a real restroom, reboot overnight, and drive back to where you stopped.

I agree. It makes the effort much more credible, with the 'warts-and-all' (i.e., no post-fixing of the realtime log. I thought that was well understood, especially after the Rob Young fiasco. Mimi, in her interview, gave the impression that she too, understood the necessity...and yet, now this.

Well, Mimi STILL has not updated her webpage positions. But she did upload her Strava data.

Because that webpage position is the RaceDrone app, they most likely are going to have to turn those trackers on. In doing so, they admit culpability in acknowledging the trackers are turned off during the data, and data is dumped at the end of the day (maybe even after first comparing with the strava data?) Using a 'realtime' tracker in this way nullifies its essential and unique capability to realtime track, thus turning it into a dumb redundant data logger, and pointless to the effort. That is, unless the purpose is just to give a fake appearance that realtime tracking is being used, to the less inquisitive observers.
