But Trump signaled he was undeterred, telling reporters Friday afternoon that he would continue imposing tariffs using his executive authority.
Asked whether he would work with Congress to approve future tariffs, Trump said, “I have the right to do tariffs, and I’ve always had the right to do tariffs.””
