Activist judges engaging in lawfare. All 6 are going on the list.
It was really a 3-3 ruling because Sotamayor, Kagan and Jackson were going to rule against Trump no matter what.
DEI appointees Alito and Thomas were going to vote for Trump no matter what. So we are reduced to a 3-1 decision now. That's like 300% more votes for American capitalists than for Trump and the Marxist tax boys. Maybe even 800%.
Through research I learned that tariffs are really one of Trump's core beliefs. He really doesn't have many core beliefs. But tariffs are one of them. And Ron Vera came into the picture and it was music to his ears.
Interesting. I suppose it's good to know he has some principled beliefs, even if they are ones that go against common sense and every economic expert who ever wrote about the matter (Ron Vera aside).
One funny thing in the opinion is that the government dove into the "major question" doctrine like a gopher, which sealed Trump's fate on this. "The Government points to projections that the tariffs will reduce the national deficit by $4 trillion, and that international agreements reached in reliance on the tariffs could be worth $15 trillion. Brief for Federal Parties 3, 11. In the President’s view, whether “we are a rich nation” or a “poor” one hangs in the balance. Id., at 2. These stakes dwarf those of other major questions cases. See, e.g., Nebraska, 600 U. S., at 483 ($430 billion); Alabama Assn., 594 U. S., at 764 (nearly $50 billion); West Virginia, 597 U. S., at 714 (“billions of dollars in compliance costs”)."
I remember Alito focusing on "major question" doctrine at oral argument and doing everything he could think of to say this wasn't a major questions case. He knew it would kill the appeal for Trump. And I guarantee it was Trump that made General Sauer include that fantastical $15 trillion stuff in their opening brief. No way Sauer would have mentioned without being ordered too. I'm sure Sauer was telling Bondie that it was totally unnecessary and would help lose the case if they argued $ trillions were at stake, and Bondie couldn't figure out how to report that back to Trump and his ego. Poor Bondie has a tough job sometimes.
(That Nebraska cases was Biden's student-loan-forgiveness fiasco, which the SCOTUS correctly shot down.)
Bad things always happen when Trump tells his legal team how to do the legal.
I recall when Trump was directing Todd Blanch in his shagging the Porn model election interference case. He could have won that case if he allowed lawyers to practice their trade. Instead the trial became a show for an audience of one and he lost in a unanimous decision. Trump wanted Stormy to be publicly humiliated and the opposite occurred.

That case was a complete hoax. That was the epitome of kangaroo courts. One thing - one misdemeanor at best - was stretched into 34 fake felonies via a “novel” legal interpretation
I also did not go to law school, but i would add that the President of the United States enjoys a team of lawyers and legal experts that work with his office to ensure that he is doing things within his authority. This has always worked well with past Presidents. It became problematic when we brought in a President that fires them all because he gets mad when they tell him what he is doing is illegal.
Was it within Joe Biden's authority to open up the borders to 12 million illegals, many of whom are rapists, murderers and pedophiles? Did his team of lawyers and legal experts suggest to him that that may not be within his authority?

joe biden was following the law. If you ask for asylum they get to come in and wait for your hearing.
I know you don't like the law, but that's what it said. And that's what biden did.
I didn’t go to law school, but is it a teeny little flaw in our system that (while citizens generally aren’t allowed to violate the most minor of laws), the president can flout the very most important parts of the Constitution, and if found wrong, is simply (eventually) told that? No punishment, NO disincentive to wake up tomorrow and try it a whole bunch of new ways….
Even without the immunity decision, this seems like a huge flaw.

Mexico is a safe enough country. Why can’t they wait in Mexico? What benefit does it bring to the US to have 12 million people with no skills or no wealth come?
Disco, go back and tell Eric to tell Turley that Trump is too savvy to try this tariff taxes sh!t again. He'll be content with blaming the liberal Supreme Court for any adverse economic news going forward.
While Howard Lutnick convinced you that tariffs are good, his son and former investment bank bought tariff refund claims from companies at 30 cents on the dollar Now that the Supreme Court has struck down those tariffs, they stand to make billions of dollars from the trade

"The President's role is to ensure the nation's borders are secure and to protect the American people from the effects of unlawful migration. This includes taking action against illegal aliens, potential terrorists, and the entry of contraband and fugitives. The President's administration can also adjust parole policies and take measures to resume Migrant Protection Protocols."
Six weeks ago, Ethan was like most 7-year-olds — spending the weekend riding his new bike or playing Minecraft on his iPad on a rainy day. “He just learned how to ride, he got the hang of it right away,” Ethan’s dad, Luis, said proudly. “He wanted to go outside because he wanted to jump on his bike…it was an amazing thing for him.” Instead, since late January, the schoolboy has been confined to a hospital bed with measles encephalitis, a complication that causes swelling and inflammation in the brain. “He's pretty much as if he was paralyzed,” his devastated father, 41, told The Independent in a phone interview from his son’s hospital bedside.

do you absolutely not care one whit about what asylum law says?
the constitution says 'the congress enacts tariffs.'
Where in the constitution do you find that?
Section 8 Enumerated Powers ArtI.S8.1 Overview of Congress's Enumerated Powers Clause 1 General Welfare The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
