@POTUS: "Today, it's a tremendous honor to welcome you all to the United States Institute of Peace for the inaugural meeting of the @BoardOfPeace... I believe it's the most consequential board... there's never been anything close because these are the greatest world leaders."
The legal profession does this too, as a marketing thing. I'm sure other business sectors do as well. You create phony organizations, get the eager members to pay some dues ($$$$), and then periodically self-award the dues-paying members a bunch of phony honors at swag dinners and meetings (paid for with the dues).
Sad seeing a U.S. President actually leading the charge on such phony sh!t. Was this a chapter in Art of the Deal?
Who could have possibly predicted that the Board of Peace would be nothing but a clown show where Trump would pathetically praise himself, invite other leaders to debase themselves and try to make more money using his office?
The Head of State wrote about this in his article for the American outlet National Interest. What makes this initiative fundamentally different is its logic. The White House has proposed a truly innovative approach: rather than repeating exhausted political formulas, it has advanced a clear and direct framework – peace through sustainable economic development, Tokayev believes. In other words, peace is treated not as a slogan, but as a project: infrastructure, investment, jobs, and a future that makes renewed conflict irrational. By its novelty and ambition, the initiative deserves respect and international attention. In Kazakhstan, a positive attitude toward the political principles associated with President Trump’s strategy is widely expressed at different levels of public and expert discussion: common sense, protection of traditional values, defense of national interests, and the intention to end wars rather than to prolong them, the President noted. These principles resonate because they reflect what most societies instinctively demand: security, stability, and dignity. Kazakhstan’s support for this direction is not rhetorical. It is practical. That is why we decided to join the Board of Peace and to support it through concrete actions, the Head of State explained. According to him, this is a logical continuation of Kazakhstan’s decision to join the Abraham Accords. It is not a mere diplomatic gesture. It is a strategic choice. Kazakhstan has always maintained a balanced and constructive approach. We have strong relations with Israel while consistently supporting the Palestinian people and advocating a two-state solution as the only sustainable foundation for peace. Our decision is also grounded in national interest with a view to strengthening economic cooperation, attracting investment and transferring advanced technologies, Tokayev emphasized. In a broader sense, official Astana hopes that it will contribute to expanding dialogue between the Muslim and Jewish worlds. All these steps make our partnership with the United States stronger than ever.
UK may block Trump from using Diego Garcia, an RAF airbase in the Indian Ocean, over concerns about the legality of a war with Iran and the dispute over the Chagos Islands agreement. Not the end of the world for a US attack on Iran. Diego Garcia has been in use by US forces to move assets from the south Pacific into the Middle East. It would more than likely be useful to stage long range bombers away from the reach of Iran's ballistic missiles.
Trump admin is saying that strikes on Iran could begin as early as this weekend but Trump has not made up his mind yet. Trump ironically stated at the first meeting of his Board of Peace that "clarity" on whether a deal with Iran was possible would come in about 10 days. Iran has stated that its right to enrich uranium is not negotiable.
Some European countries are advising citizens to leave Iran immediately with attacks likely soon. Oil prices are spiking, but may also be up on India's quiet action against shadow fleet vessels.
Iran has been sending drones to probe US carrier fleets in the area. Both sides have carried out naval exercises. Iran has been hastily fortifying its nuclear sites with concrete walls and tested rockets the other day.
In the 12 day war, the US and Israel very quickly took out Iran's air defenses and had air superiority. But Iran was able to launch a symbolic response with what were believed to be hypersonic missile that made it past Israel and US missile defense systems. The USS Gerald Ford and USS Abraham Lincoln are in the Middle East and would be priority targets for Iran. Each aircraft carrier has about 4-5,000 soldiers. Aircraft carriers cost about $13-15 billion each. It takes 5-10 years to build a Ford class aircraft carrier. The US has 11 active aircraft carriers. So, if Iran is able to sink 2 US aircraft carriers early in the conflict, that would be the worst loss to US Naval power since Pearl Harbor.
I am sure Mossad has told the US military that they know where all the hypersonic missiles are staged and the US will be able to take them out in a first strike against Iran. But if they don't . . .
The other two cards Iran has is blockading the Straits of Hormuz and blowing up oil infrastructure on the other side of the Persian Gulf. Oil prices would double overnight if either happened.
So, war with Iran will play out in one of two ways. The US overwhelms Iran's defenses in a massive first strike and is able to operate with impunity across Iran. Or, Iran is able to strike back and inflict heavy damage on US military targets and Saudi and Emirati oil infrastructure. A third possibility is a very limited strike on Iran's nuclear facilities in a repeat of the 12 day war. But given the amount of firepower assembled in the Gulf, this is highly unlikely.

Trump is still undecided on war with Iran. He will sleep on it and then get some further advice from Kid Rock and Laura Loomer by text this weekend in between golf rounds.
Witkoff realizes how much an honor it is to work toward World Peace.
"Mr President, it is my greatest honor to work for you. It is the blessing in my life. I've had many blessings. But this is my greatest blessing."
There's no gun to his head, like if he worked for Saddam Hussein or Vladimir Putin. I don't doubt Witkoff truly feels that way about Trump. I bet you do to. You've had many blessings, but voting and advocating for Trump is the greatest blessing of your life. I think you are all deluded and fvcked in the head, but I don't doubt the sincerity of most of you MAGAs on the messiah aspect. I really don't.
A host of countries have committed to joining [the Board of Peace], including Armenia, Egypt, Hungary, Pakistan, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

What sort of sad loser takes the time to post the above?
Since this is a running site, I’ll liken the (at least colorful) self-own above about Trump’s peace group to showing off about a US men’s national team full of 2:13 marathoners.

Nicely analogous to his fine cabinet, too!
Or: “Basket of Deplorables - Geopolitical Edition” !!

Since our CIA Director - or some other moonlighting American sycophant - is now running Venezuela, shouldn’t they be in this fine club, too?
anothrr illegal, unconstitutional act by His Degeneracy. Only congress can decide to spend like this. Piggie hates the constitution and wants to be Putin, making every decision himself. And the piglets are ok with that. They hate our system.
Trump announces he's transferring $10 billion from the US government to his "Board of Peace," which critics have likened to a giant slush fund Trump will control.
