Ugh... How this thread is going thus far is not particularly to my liking. I wish there were more intelligent women posting on this board. Maybe some are lurking that should be encouraged to post (please, please post), but 16x why argue with Flagpole he is very good at this message board thing and very set in his opinions.

Personal pet peeve: "women" why do you go by names such as "runnerbabe" or "blonderunner"... sounds like your trying to make yourself a sex symbol just via your name alone....

Aren?t women as objects what the female viewers of this site object to so vehemently?

I think you would agree (after some advice I gave you earlier) that old Flagpole knows a thing or two.

I also agree with you (as does 16x) about the names of female runners. Often I see women flaunt their sexuality (because we all know that women rule that arena) and then recoil or become angry when those same women are treated as objects (this is a general observation and not directed at any one person).

You're not that evil, Flagpole. Carry on.

Flag, bud, is it safe now to humbly recommend you give this thread a rest? I, for one, would like to see it return to a discussion of and about women posters, running and you're straying from this.

A good female friend left a different run site for many of the same reasons the women have offered here. I tried to talk her out of it because I value her opinion highly. My point: I hope the Women of Letsrun can hang in there and please, do share your opinions w/us.

When I posted here for the first time about a year ago I was responding to some posts bashing women over 40 as ugly, old and slow. I choose the name Runnerbabe to underscore my point that women over 40 most certainly are NOT old, and that those posts were offensive and just plain stupid- not to "flaunt my sexuality". I ended up keeping the name because it tended to generate some interesting (and not always very flattering) comments- sort of a "conversation piece" of sorts. So, though I would never toot my own horn- I am Runnerbabe!

As long as you don't then get irritated with any young males calling women "babe" or things of that nature, then I've got no problem with your name.

I HAVE been carrying on a discussion of women posters. No matter what anyone says though, women will not post here as often as men. I would love for them to, but they won't.

Message boards are places for discussion and debate, and MOST women don't want to debate. MOST women will carry on a discussion as long as those doing it agree with them, but MOST women don't take kindly to being disagreed with, and instead of arguing their point (and I'm not saying they CAN'T do this), they choose to not respond - not a fault necessarily - perhaps even the right thing to do, but it IS what women do, and other than a very few brief moments when someone starts a thread asking women to post, they will not do so - save a rare one or two.

You want to see how often women post, then go to

www.fast-women.com

and see that only a HANDFUL of posts happen each day. More women post here already than do at

www.fast-women.com

, and that is obviously a site specifically for women.

No, that doesn't irritate me a bit- I think it's kind of funny, actually. I would get extremely irritated should one of those young males call me (or any other woman) old just because I'm over 40.

I don't know what kind of women you know flagpole, but where I come from the females argue, debate and disagree just as much as men. My mother is smart, smart woman, a attorney and a perfect example of this.

Why is it that "women" are so damned testy? Do you see guys bitching about whether they are a boy, man, hoodlum, etc? "Girls" really strive to bitch and moan. It's too bad they aren't as smart as guys, or else they might actually get somewhere with their bitching, moaning, and attention-whoring.
