The sole reason for my thinking that MIT will in no way win nationals is due to their very consistently terrible showing on the track at nationals year-after-year. I honestly didn't even notice this until someone posted about it on the track discussion board. The men cannot be trusted. The woman wear the pants at that school.

I am not disagreeing with you one bit when you say NCC will win the team title, because I believe that is what will happen. Not a chance Loras can win let alone be Top 3. But Dan O'Keefe can not be trusted! A 9:07 steepler yes, but that was one time. He is the most inconsistent runner out there and NCC should not count on him for team points. With that said, they should still have no problem winning the title.

I think something that is strange to me is the lack of parity at the top. Sure, NCC does return a lot from a team that dominated nationals last year, but where are the other teams? Olaf seemingly is past its glory years akin to Haverford when they had their stint or Calvin when they were so dominant in the 2000s. However, there really seems to be a lack of top-end teams that can challenge for the title and it makes it a little boring honestly. Williams and Wash U always seem good enough to trophy and Eau Claire and Lax may throw something together but there really seems to be a lack of another team or two that could be a really great team.

Damn dude, O'Keefe must have beaten you pretty bad or consistently to get that mad over a team's 6th/7th man who does have some impressive races.

I really don't want to involve myself in arguments with people I've never really met apart from short conversations at nationals, but both posters have a point. Obviously there is so much I can understand by looking at one's TFRRS, but you can gather enough to insinuate. Yes, his only substantial mark on the track is his 9:07 steeple from his sophomore season. He seems to be good for about one race per track season.

This past spring it was his 9:13 at the NCC Dr. Keeler Track Field Invitational.

Indoors he had two(!) in his last two races at the 5k distance in 15:04 and 15:08, respectively.

Last spring in 2016 it was his sole 9:07 steeple.

That said, that has no correlation to his performance on the grass. He seems to be extraordinarily consistent and very valuable to NCC during the cross country season. So, instead of looking at him as a liability and very inconsistent track runner, let us look at him as a very strong cross country runner and potential top 45 finisher at nationals (he was 58th a year ago). My only hesitation on him is his lack of improvement from his freshman year. He must have been very developed in high school.

O'Keefe went to Mt Carmel in Chicago and they completely sucked at running. Trust me, he could not have been that developed. Coming from an Ignatius runner.

Well, that doesn't mean that he sucked at running. Plenty of high school runner's teams such, but they are coached individually by their coach or even their parents to another level. Lukas Verzbicas for example.

Yes Albion College is very good! Bill Andrew will take them to the promised land... or is it Andrew Bill? His name confuses me greatly, which first name comes first? But Albion college will confuse you greatly when they SEND NORTH CENTRAL HOME DEVASTATED at nationals this year!

Why such hostility towards NCC? It's truthfully Geneseo's fault that NCC looked so good. They shit the bed, arguably worse than Lamere shitting his shorts at WIAC's two years ago. You guys were ranked ahead of NCC parts of the year and when it counted couldn't even keep it under 100.

What's a D-III?

Those club runners are quite nothing in the books of history. No one knows them, no one will remember them, they have no significant wins. They could have never run and history would have remained the same.

Lamere will be remembered for quite some time by his competitors, peers, and fans of the sport.

D3 is a cult following of similar minded people with similar athletic capacity.

Congratulations to Luke Winder at USAs! An amazing showing and representation of D3 athletics.

The man hasn't lost a (d3) national championship. He's probably disappointed but surely won't lose any sleep over this. He's moving in the right direction by qualifying for the meet.
