Fam blasted a USATF course running through a crowd of 400-500 women in this chaser race. Tom Clifford held the lead through the first mile. Said they were in heavy traffic passing strollers.

Fam has gained entry into many big time fields over the years in NYC races (both track and roads) and in some cases simply because he is a local guy and had no business being in the field (a few Millrose Mile races come to mind to start) and ended up far off the back or simply an also ran.
Maybe the NYRR are looking that he has passed his prime and he has underperformed many times in the past.
Stop the insanity: Fam wasn't included in the Dash 5k because he never asked or expressed an interest in being in it. The NYRR's only invite a few athletes to this event and fill the rest of the elite field with those elites who ask to be included. Fam is not near good enough to get a special invite (remember he didn't even qualify to attend the trials a few months ago) and he never asked to be in the race or expressed an interest in being in it.
Fam is just using this as another attention getting ploy and to rage against the establishment. Any of you buying into this are his suckers.

Did some research. TaTas is right, Fam ran 13:55 on a usatf certified course on Oct 6, 2012. In 09 he ran 13:28 at Carlsbad (close to the American record).
And FYI, my research shows Fam never ran Millrose in any event.
Looks like Fam won NYRR 8k once, then 2nd & 3rd the other years he ran. At healthy kidney he finished 3rd behind Mottram & Mo Farah. His results for their Fifth Ave mile show 3:57.1, 3:55.5, 3:57.1 in 2011. Also a half marathon in 1:03. He obviously belonged at their races as much as any other runner.
Fam did qualify for the 2012 trials marathon.
Just coming on here to say that I love Fam. He does whine a bit too much, but I like him anyway. He has always been one of my favorite runners to watch. We;re the same age and I raced him quite a bit during college (both when he was at AppSU and UT). In the early years, I could at least see his trail of dust. Eventually, it just happened to be that I was racing behind him somewhere.
What you folks need to know is that he is a very kind, humble guy. I bet most of you guys would actually enjoy hanging out with him.
Anyway, I don't really "know" him and haven't seen him in years, but I feel like he gets dealt a bad hand on this site.
Ran the Big South course and biked it twice on Sunday.
My Gamin 305 came out at 3.086 for the run and 3.091/3.093 on my odometer for both bikes. Some of my run was on the sidewalk and my bike was close to the side of the road to avoid traffic. With that said, the actual course is a certified 5k, but if Fam was able to game the course, he could have run slightly less than 5k, but not by much. The course starts off with a moderate grade 200m up hill, which you get back on the finish and the rest of the course is 'mostlty' flat. The BS 5K had perfect conditions, about 59 degrees at the start and no wind.
Btw, about 3/4ths of the race is middle school kids and and run for fun types, this is not a course full of athletes looking to get a PR.
Many of the invited athletes ran the usatf champ races at the 5k, 10k, 20k distances as well as this summer's trials or were in the olympics. Fam ran for the tatas in carolina and didn't ask for an invite.

Fam could learn a lot from Christian Hesch. The reason Hesch races all over America is because he acts as his own agent. He is PRO-ACTIVE in contacting race directors all over America expressing his wish to run their race. He doesn't wait for an invitation. He actually has a power-point RESUME.
Hesch maps out his racing schedule with military precision. You, and Fam, could learn a lot from Christian Hesch.
I have no problem with Fam and wish him the best. However, whining about not being invited is embarrassing. Enough with the sense of entitlement. Be proactive and reach out to the NYRR if you want to run in one of their races. Don't sulk and tweet about not receiving an invite. It's just like high school kids who complain about not being recruited when they should be contacting college coaches.
And no, I'm not associated with NYRR, as I live over 1000 miles away.

FAM's solo 13:55 5k from the Oct 6 race would have placed him top 5 at the USA 5k champs in September. He would have been off of first place by about three seconds.
I didn't read anything negative or 'whiny' in the tweet. The premise of this board is to whine about running. NYRR executives post on here often and read the site. Why don't they just offer him a spot and do the bigger thing? It makes it seem there already was a grudge in their lack of response.
