Gotta love the coach / kid who tried so hard to get their team out there. But the only reason this thread is going is 99% of the posters think this is a boxing thread or about FM radio. The 1%, which includes me now, are arguing with the coach / athlete on if we should know their team let alone current or former runners.

Did you know it's the WNBA playoffs? Neither did I until I saw it in the box score section of the paper. High School football got a solid 2-3 page spread.

The coach of this team doesn't have to make threads like this to get attention. He gets interviews posted on the front page. I have no idea who the OP, but they probably aren't on the team.

Congratulations on having a great program, but let's keep things in perspective. I care about running (mostly my running). I don't care about high school girls running.

Does high school football have a national championship tournament of some sort (no: the champion is based on rankings). Have any high schools won this championship several times in a row in dominating fashion? Looks like the best comparison is Concord, CA from 1998-2003, which I admit I didn't know about at the time (though I also wasn't especially interested in football during that time).

And it might not be the same level, but I knew about (D III) Mt. Union's football program and I'm not the most die-hard football fan. I can also name Oak Hill as a famous for high school basketball, and I'm sure there have been others referenced plenty in the media.

Simply put, if cross country was a sport with any mainstream media coverage, you'd have probably heard about FM. Since it isn't, I'd probably only expect NYers and those interested in national-level high school girls cross country to know about them.

you're the reason LRC can really suck. Most real fans of XC have a keen interest in Aris & FM's unreal streak of success the last 7 years or so.

Never heard of FM, nor will I probably hear of them again. Keep topics open so that at least 5% of the boards can relate to them.

I thought this thread was going to be along the lines of detailing the decline in radio music.

Why are you people replying to the guys on this board that try to be sarcastic about every thread? Anyone who has a remotely serious interest in the SPORT of running knows about Fayetteville-manlius. It is a waste of time arguing with a bunch of 22 year old jerks. They know thy are being asses and they think posting on a message board and being douchebags is funny. Ignore them. It was a big deal they lost but they are the program to beat at nationals until they lose there.

I follow cross-country day in and day out and I've never even heard of them. I have subscriptions to Running Times, Track and Field News, Runners World and somehow manage to slosh through the Letsrun.com muck as well. Never heard of them.

I'm really glad that you subscribe to those publications and support the running media. It's people like you that allow us to sit here and read and write about running. However, if you're going to pay for the subscriptions you may as well read the magazines.
