Bro I was 22' 5K as a sophomore in highschool and I'm now at low 13:50 (second year of college in France) and I know A LOT of peoples like me in my country, just look at Jim Ryun, 5:38 mile shows no talent
The key is to train a lot when you're young, even if you feel very tired and to do everything to recover fast, the younger you train, the most your body will adapt itself to run fast in the future
And also don't do vo2max and all that sh*t and even more when you're young if you don't want to burnout, only threshold hills and specific with a lot of easy runs
