3:40 win for German in Belgium

Look I don't even believe you personally know 3 sub 3:40 guys who post here - unless you are willing to name them and their handle, and they collaborate you story. People make shit up on the internet all the time.

Using my head tells me that there were 32 qualifiers for the Olympic trials. A "few" more who have qualified, but ran other events, and a "few" more who just missed 3:39, but were sub 3:40.

Then you have ex-runners, however they are not all that many sub 3:40 guys. I ran in the 70/80's. Back then there would be 10-15 sub 3:40 guys at most. The 90's were even worse.

Still, there are runners from other countries who post here as well, but other than maybe Kenya, it's doubtful non have anywhere near as many as the US. In case you have not noticed there is a real running revival happening at this time in the US.

In all, there is probably somewhere between 500-1000 3:40 1500 runners. It's doubtful many of those post here. I know of only 4 former National to World class runners who post here and give out their names : Jim Spivey, Malmo, Bob Hodges, and Rush Wysocki. I'm sure there are more whom I've missed, and more who do so anonymously. I'd guess that out of those 500-1000 sub 3:40 guys no more than 15-20 have ever posted here. Given how many post here overall, I'd say 15-20 (which I still think is on the high side), is a few.

Regardless, of the definition of a few, or even how many sub 3:40 guys there are and how many post here. 3:40 is a good time. It would be unusual for there to be a thread about a 3:40 runner, but German is 1) better than that as a 3:37 guy, and 2) is know more as the 4:00/8:40 HS double guy, the 3:55, 7:47, 13:25 as a 18 year old freshman guy (same age as Lukas V and Webb were as HS seniors).

Those are times which, no doubt, even impress Spivey and Malmo. 3:40 was a nice time and the manner he ran it showed he has a lot more than that in the tank. If he get's in the right 3k and has a good day, I could see him running about 7:45. Maybe even faster.

This is certainly a worthy thread about a promising runner who has had a lot of difficulties that past few years. A lot of people wish him well and are pulling for him to fulfill the promise he showed at 17-18. A lot of posters are bitter, no-talent, losers who slam everyone and everything.

It seems to me that you let your emotions blur your eyes. I don't slam German, I am not bitter, I am not without talent (as if that matter) etc. Try reading it again.
