BYU`s incoming freshman class AMAZING

Instead of bragging about recruiting classes or bad-mouthing coaches I think that teams should shut up and let their running do the talking, can everyone at least agree on that? In saying that good luck to ALL the Utah schools with runners competing at NCAA's Zoobie or not

A lot of people in SPSL don't like Dickson or White River. They're not as good as they think they are (although Dickson is getting close) and even great programs and individuals have better sportsmanship.

Was it supposed to be "going to the celestial kingdom with Dickson" or "giving the celestial kingdom to Dickson" (where one does not mean the same thing as the other)? Because "going to the celestial kingdom to Dickson" doesn't make sense, as Taylor said.

As for Dickson and White River's egos as you describe it, I can't speak to that. But in interviews I've seen/read/heard, he never came off as being "unsportsmanlike". Maybe they are full of themselves when talking to their rivals, I have no idea, but I haven't seen them be publicly unsportsmanlike before.

The problem with grammar nazis is usually their hypocrisy. First of all "seem to make sense to me" is noun to noun. Sense and me are both nouns. So quit pretending the structure is different in the two phrases. Second of all, if you are such a warrior against superfluous language, what is the point of "more incomprehensible?" What would make it "most incomprehensible?" Some people write in complex sentences. Apparently they didn't teach those at your school. My only problem was I had to ask a Mormon friend what the "celestial" reference meant.

To say there is no advantage of being 25 years old as a senior going against on average 22 year old senior is ridiculous. There is a huge maturity difference (mentally and physically) between a Mormon senior, who runs their frosh year, takes two years off for a mission, takes a redshirt year to get back into shape and then competes for three more years at their physical peak. It's an unfair advantage. Mormons don't have to go on missions when they are 19. I repeat, they don't have to. Why should they get three more years of competing plus a redshirt year for taking two years off which was their priority?

Just a question do all the guys on the BYU team serve missions? I know of some LDS members who opt not to and was curious as to whether there are any members of the team who decided not to go one a mission.

You seem to ignore the fact that any runner from any program is free to try the same thing.

It's not an advantage, it's a closely guarded secret. Top recruits are shipped to South America for two years where they are fattened on a diet of rice, beans and slow hatching tape worm eggs. They return fat and slow, but as they begin to train the increased metabolism hatches the tape worms inducing Montezuma's Revenge and rapidly shedding the weight.

It is the sole reason they have so many national champions and incidentally, the reason all of Josh McAdams shirts had no sleeves post mission.

This is amazing. I don't quite understand....Mormons don't make up that much of the US populastion do they? They seem to be massively over-represented in distance running at least this year. Or am i underestimating how many mormons there are at the HS level in the US right now?

No. There are guys on the team who are not even LDS and are active in other faiths. There are no requirements to go on a mission to be a part of the team. I know eyestone would like/hope that all of his runners would serve a mission, however each person has their agency.

Can you please explain what happens physiologically between 22 and 25 that is responsible for the physical maturity advantage you say exists?

And personally, I don't feel that being more mentally mature than someone else should play a factor in determining whether a person is competing unfairly. Some people are, by disposition, more mentally mature than others. Should they be banned from competing? I think that's bad logic, my friend.

And, the rules apply to everyone, not just Mormons. Like someone else said, you can join the Peace Corps and get the same treatment. Shoot, if it's really an advantage, why are high school graduates enrolling in college right away? The clock doesn't start till you enroll in college.

BYU is an easy school. Ever been there ? No Orientals, No Indians, No Pakistanis, No Iranians, No Jews. You can get an easy A in every calculus, physics, chemistry, and biology class. The only problem for Americans is that they make you take three (I think) hate classes in order to graduate. I don't hate anyone myself.

Actually, "Oh?" is right. "to make" is a verb, and "seem" is also a verb. I'm not sure which is supposed to be a noun, and the sentence makes sense as is, even if it isn't exactly correct grammatically.

Which brings us back to the point, the post in question doesn't make sense, even aside from attacking the character of a kid.

Maybe you need to relax on this one a bit?

Most of those guys are from mountain states (ID/UT/CO/AZ make up 7 of the 11 listed recruits). Mountain states are both the fastest growing, and have the largest mormon populations (and on average, I think mormon families tend to be a little bigger). Naturally, areas near the Mountain states (such as California and Washington) also have quite a few mormons.

You obviously were never taught sentence diagramming in school.

sense (noun) to (verb) me (noun). The structure is the same as the original sentence but simplified for you... obviously not enough.

This is why you sit in the bleachers trying to predict the outcome of things instead of

1) Doing it yourself as an athlete or

2) Producing anything as a coach.

I would have never posted here if some idiots didn't start flaunting their illiteracy. Some kid having no class is secondary, although pertinent. Like I said, the team isn't known for its etiquette.

Amazing that you can think "to the celestial kingdom to Dickson" can be a proper sentence, and then nitpick about someone saying it doesn't make sense or even complain that "that doesn't seem to make sense to me" is actually incorrect enough to complain about.

By the way, you're wrong about #2 as well. But that's okay.
