From my own perspective, and as someone who has tough Kinky African hair, it makes my life easier in the morning. If I have hair on my head, I must comb it because of its nature. Thst is why I have to cut it SHORT!
I don't shave my head bald like Michael Jordan though.
As for the Kenyan runners, I guess it is solely for the same reason.
