Did I claim otherwise? No, I did not.
I would not want one capable of such paranoia overseeing anyone's education. It speaks of such abject disassociation from reality that one wonders how such a person may view other areas such as morality and what constitutes a decent education. I would see it as my duty to my child and to others to discredit such a person and prevent any passage on of his/her views, willful ignorance being the first among them.
I am gonna bite and say that teachers are human. I had a HS teacher who taught German who was an athiest and didn't have a problem trying to convince us the irrationality of the belief in the christian god. The class ended up being a debate between teacher and students and had nothing to do with learning a foreign language and I have to say that I actually learned alot that day. Was this appropriate? Was it legal?
One of the main problems with public schools is that they want to teach critical thinking, but they themselves have to censor themselves on what and how they can teach.

Actually there are tons of proof that Obama was born in Hawaii, so there's zero doubt who's right or wrong in that case. The birther argument is the same argument as the people that don't believe men were on the moon, which is why I'd never want one as a teacher. If you're willing to deny very simple basic facts because of your political ideology then you're unfit to teach. Simple as that.

I do agree the point "how do you know they're a birther" is a very good one. If they are a birther they should get the same treatment as a child molester and banned from any teaching institution for life. No one that believes that could be qualified as a teacher. It's the same as believing the earth is flat, or that magical pyramids aligned on true north-south (not magnetic) will heal all your ills if you sleep in them.
However, there's a damn good chance the "teacher is a birther" is crock. In addition to the very plausible devil's advocate theory earlier children are better than most expect at hitting the hot buttons of parents. In town just a few months ago a teacher disciplined some students for not completing their work in class and what do you know, just a few weeks later he's accused of sexual advances towards a student, then another student comes forward, and another, but then after he's suspended and it hits the newspaper it turns out they all lied because he made them do their classwork.
I only want my kids to be taught by teachers who love Captain Zero and slobber when speaking of him and all he did to earn the Nobel Peace prize. I would hate to have them exposed to view points from across the spectrum. As a matter of fact, I have banned them from ever accessing LetsRun because a troll once offer an argument that would have required my children to have to work to put together a counter argument. They shouldn't have to critically think. They should just be spoon fed non-contradictory opinions from all angles.
This issue is very easily resolved.
