SUPER BUMP!!!!
Guelph silenced the Windsor fans yesterday it seems.
It looks like once again the individual title is going to be a battle between Kelly Wiebe and several Guelph guys.
For my money, Wiebe is going to be pretty tough to beat, after finishing just nine seconds back of Kip Kangogo and 1:20 up on the rest of the field. Kangogo took down Gillis at the Sun Run, Gillis and Coolsaet at track Nationals 10,000m, while also finishing first in the 5,000m. More recently, he ran the same time as Bairu's winning time from last year at the 10k road championships. I was at the race, and Kip looked like he was pushing pretty hard on the last lap to hold Kelly off, so I don't think that it was simply a tempo effort for him. By all accounts, Wiebe seems to be in better shape than last year.
Having said that, Genest has run sub-24 for 8k this year so it will be difficult for Wiebe to run away from him and I could easily see Genest or Boorsma winning if it comes down to a kick finish. I'm thinking a tough course will play more into Wiebe's hands. It should be a great race!

QFT.
I find this thread very interesting. Guelph is still the best team 52 years later. The following is from the front page of the 1958 programme:
"O.Q.A.A. Senior and Intermediate Harrier
Championship Meet
Held on Saturday Nov. 8th 1958
at
Ontario Agricultural College
Guelph."
Results were:
Senior Race
1.--O.A.C.-O.V.C.--23 points
2.--Queen's--35
3>--Western--43
4.--Toronto--54
5. McGill---68
No other teams ran
My memory is that I had trouble getting over the barbed wire fence and through the cow dung in that race.
Intermediate race
1.--O.A.C.-O.V.C.--10 points
2.--Western--29 points
No other teams ran
A snack was served to all competitors and officials. Dinners could be purchased in the College Dining Hall for Fifty cents.
Guelph looked great yesterday, very impressive team effort.
