[As usual, subtract a minute (or more) from the men's final times to get a better idea of their 8k pace...]
Cornell men seem to be coming together pretty well. Their 1-5 spread was under a minute, and De Silva, their captain (and 2d team all-Ivy last year) had his first race of the season for the Red. (Earlier eligibility problems?) He's a major addition and strengthens the squad significantly.
The Cornell women continued to shuffle their pecking order, though their freshman McMahon seems to have solidified her #1 status. She's having an outstanding rookie campaign, and finished just ahead of Penn's Kovach yesterday. Both teams finished ahead of Yale and Penn.
Somewhat surprisingly (more so on the men's side) for the Cornell: based on frosh performances in outdoor track, both squads projected dominant performances from their "supersophs" this fall. The sophs have certainly contributed, but not at the level that might have been expected; and the frosh on both squads, though not as highly touted as last year's rookies, have had some very solid performances.
As far as a Heps prediction, looks like both Cornell teams will have a shot at the podium, with the men trying to break up Princeton/Dartmouth/Columbia, and the women looking to beat at least one of the Princeton/Harvard/Columbia squads.
But I'm not sure about the other Ivy teams, especially Brown's women; and would be glad for more info, including appraisals of the teams that *weren't* at PSU yesterday.
