Ran a 30 km in Indianapolis in about 1983 or 4, and one of the Guntch's was in it, took over 12 miles to catch her. My wife eventually caught her, too, and passed her for the win. My wife remembers the two guys pacing her, her dad being one. The girl was slowing and tiring, but dad was turning around and running backwards, just to confirm that my wife was truly a female catching up on her. She didn't drop out, though, because there was a record of some kind that her dad wanted her to get.

scotth probably knows more than I, but in MI we had the Guntsches (sp?). They all were named after weather, like stormy ann and windy sue. I think stormy ann ran under 65 minutes at Crim when she was 12 or so.

Per the article and a calculator, she would be 45 now. Anyone know if she is still running. Are any kids or possibly grandkids running? Probably she got so burned out that she never ran a step in or after HS. But I could be wrong.
