The two Kiwis, Forys, Lex, O'Lionard, and Macnamara are were all top recruits in their class.
Wasn't Lex a nobody when Michigan signed him? He didn't go on to run fast times until after he'd made his decision on Michigan. He was what you would consider, a surprise, prize recruit. Michigan got way more than they thought they were going to get when he busted out his 857? in the spring (although wasn't that a 3200?).
mrr, Lex had run 4:09 I believe when he signed with UM, but had not run the 8:56 or 57 yet.
I think he had a very productive Track career at UM, not a great Cross guy, never really was.
I think Lex ran 13:50, 7:50's and 28:30's?
Pretty darn good times for a 4:09 Hs'er, also very close if not under 4:00, on legs and from scratch.
PR's are super impressive, but horrible racer come Nationals (Warhurst or his fault?).
Anyone have any info on the coaching search? I wonder if it will be a legacy coach or a coach without former ties to the program. I would love to see Sully come back, but obviously not likely due to Harvey's position at FSU. I feel VERY VERY badly for Ronnie if he really was forced out.
Ironic that Lex is brought up here because I heard Lex hated Ron and there was some type of huge conflict between them. I wonder if this ultimately led to Ron being shown the door by the new AD Brandon???
I totally doubt that, I have seen Lex and his parents interact with Ron directly, the relationship was incredibly positive that I witnessed first hand.
dumbest post i've ever heard
No single athlete can bring down a coach unless there is something illegal/immoral going on.
99% of the programs in the country would love to have had the success that Warhurst had.
Some walk-ons are going to become collegiate All-Americans and some high school All-Americans aren't going to pan out.
Ron Warhurst has had better talent in the last 10 years than perhaps Oregon and Wisconsin. Stanford 4th.
Northern Arizona > Michigan
Michigan > NAU (didn't even know they were a school)
I thought Williams ran a 13:41 maybe indoors

Very Nice, see you this weekend!
GLRRRRRRRRRRRR
don't forget bout Freddy wrote:
U of M is set up so that Fred Laplante will be the cross country coach and maybe hire a sprints coach to help him out now in the track season.
Truth? LaPlante is listed as the sprints/hurdles guy and the other position open now is listed as field events. Do you have more information about this?
Fred is part of the Bob Parks/Ron Warhurst/John Goodridge lineage and connection. He has coached cross country before at several different stops before U of M.......
McGuire couldn't take over because Fred and James Henry run seperate programs in track. The position open in field events used to belong to David Kaiser who also was recently pushed out. The university will probably give Fred reigns over cross country and track now and hire a field events person to help him replace Kaiser
Alan Webb was stupid and never learned how to race from Ron after quitting in less than a year.
