honestly, i think this so called hatred is a little overdone and was probably started in fun. i don't know of anyone who hates lc or anyone else in the odac for that matter. most of the guys i know are enormously proud of ricky.

I certainly agree that generating a friendly rivalry can benefit all. I remember hearing negative comments directed at LC athletes when I was competing and often used them for motivation during a difficult training session. I doubt if any of the comments were derived from deep hatred and hope that comments made by our team were not taken seriously. What I remember more distinctly, however, were the cheers from conference and regional coaches such as Tucker at W&L, Shane at Bridgewater, Pincus at Roanoke as well as the guys at CNU and Mary Washington during intense regional and National Championship races. It makes a difference!
And yes, it is great to see the level of competition increase in the conference, region and Division III as well. It is always a great inspiration to see former DIII runners such as Sandu Rebenciuc, Dan Mayer, Kevin Collins, Josh Moen have great post collegiate careers and hell yeah I'm cheering for them.

Sure you can go anywhere with a degree from an unheard of school with hard work and some luck. However, to say that no one in the real world cares where your degree is from is bullshit to the extreme.
