I was reading a thread on coolrunning and someone insulted someone else and a poster told them to knock it off because on coolrunning they aren't a-holes like on letsrun.com. I figured I gotta check this letsrun place out so came over and never left.
True story.
I was on the forum formerly known as Mervs, and wejo jumped onto the board a few times. I think some of the regulars jumped on his case--not believing that he was a legit runner. This may have been a year or two before LR actually started.
Anyway, I remembered wejo and JK, and when they started LR one of them probably came over to Mervs a couple times and said, "Hey we got a new forum." So I sauntered over.
Mervs subsequently imploded.
This place is a cesspool. But it's our cesspool, and it's still the best place for up to date information.

Yupper, TNFmedia.com that was kind of the fix for a while. Wild West on the internet. This is kind of a carryover, but moderated somewhat (if not aribtray and capricious).
Didn't scheiffer try a site a few years later, and no one came back?
junior year in college my teammate wanted to show me a link of the homepage. i browsed it a few times after that, but all the links on the homepage were pretty overwhelming. a while later, i was on the phone with my brother and he asked me something like "what was that site you were on, the one with a thousand links on the homepage?" after that it just kind of stuck, and when i started visiting more frequently i migrated over to the message board, and once i started posting it was all over. been hooked since fall 2004.
