DIII South-Southeast XC 2009

Wow, that's kind of a shot at the W&L women's coach. I would say both coaches (Emory and W&L) or pretty darn good with successful track records (no pun intended). None of the ODAC teams (men and women) ran very well in Texas last year. I believe all of them came up short of their Regional rankings. Either the travel really effected everyone or the teams from the other side of the region were much better than people gave them credit for. I suspect it was a bit of both.

Did you mean Wright or White? Because you do realize White lost to Flynn by over a minute in a race Ricky won by 45 seconds right?

My picks for top 3: Flynn, Meade, Wright

I'm sticking with my prediction of White. I know who he is and the race is capable of. He will spread his wings and fly as an Eagle, taking a "relief" on Flynn as he passes by. You heard it here first, folks.

Devar got a huge lead like half a mile into the race and at about the 2 mile mark i heard his coach telling him to relax and save it for regionals

he ran 25:23 completely alone (next runner was 27:03)

i'm gonna put my money on him for a shocking upset over Flynn at regionals

I get crucified on this thread all the time and even I have never said that White will beat Flynn, only that he has a shot at an individual national qualifying spot. Either you are being sarcastic or you are even more of an optimist than me. Flynn is the real deal and Meade and Devar or the only two guys that might even have him within eye-sight at the finish if he chooses to run hard.

congtulations to emory, good luck at nats. thought lynchburg, trinity and umw would be better. def a down year for the region. lots of seniors at the top, next year??

I'm right here and I'm ready to own up to my inaccurate predictions. I thought White had a shot to be an individual national qualifier and he wasn't too far off, but I definitely thought he would be higher. I'm sure the crucifying of me will begin any time now. I know my opinions are biased, but they are never quite as radical as people like to make them out to be. For example, if I say someone will do "well," people seem to act like I said they would beat Ricky Flynn or something. Bottom line is, my optimism didn't quite pan out in the Region Meet this year. I can admit when I was wrong and this was one of those times. Congrats to everyone in the Region who is going to Nationals. I hope the South Region represents well.

Have you ever predicted accurately? Last year was way off too. You should never be a gambler.
